  1. Did anyone notice the officer in the background, had the individual’s car door open before they knocked? He was looking in the back seat. Did they have permission to search that vehicle? If someone backed into a car and left the scene, what reason would there be for search without a warrant or permission well after the fact? Was there visual damage to the patrol car or the suspect car?

I can see jerking your leg away from a dog peeing on you. Making a movement to intimidate the dog letting him know to back off even. But physically kicking the dog is over the top.

  2. The problem here is the dog was taking a leak on the officer's leg. He should be allowed to have slight aggression toward the dog but not so far as shoot the dog. If not, then is the dog's owner liable or chargeable for assault due to what his dog did to the officer?

  3. John, you talked about a pet as effects under the 4th and the implications for seizure, but what about the pet as property and the Takings clause under the 5th? A government actor, by killing a pet, would they not be depriving a person of their property or destroying that property, or damaging the property if the pet were harmed?

  4. The go to MO these days is make an arrest no matter what. Don't investigate, double check for correct address, or get a warrant…nothing, just arrest.

  5. Why was, and what right did the other officer have to be in the guy's vehicle before the guy even answered his door?? To legally enter that mans vehicle they would need his permission or a warrant, wouldn't they?

  6. Is there an industry standard for Police training? I've heard, ( horrifyingly) that it takes longer to get a cosmetology licence ( from a school) than it does to become a police officer. Are scissors more dangerous than a pistol?

  7. You have the right to protect property which an animal is! The dog peeing on the officers leg posed no threat or harm. Kick my dog we are definitely going to have problems!

  8. Unfortunately, the pets have no rights in Indiana and/or Louisiana. The PIGs have full immunity, even if the situation was any wrong doing.

  9. WV is saying their going to start executing dogs that don't have a property tax paid on them. They want you to register with them the breed, age, color etc of each dog as well. It's only $3 dollars per pet per year, but its mostly about teaching you obedience. Some gestapo stuff.
