  1. A police dog is treated as a police officer, by law. If I harm a police dog, it’s the same as harming a police officer. So….a police dog should not be allowed to harm a citizen if a human police officer is not allowed to use such force in the same situation. They can’t be a police “officer” and a police ”tool” at the same time.

  2. I've seen way too many instances of K9s being deployed and the result being excessive force, severe injuries and a lawsuit. Most of these dogs and these cops are too poorly trained to allow for consistency, and I believe that K9s will eventually be phased out because they are more of a liability than an asset.

I re-watched the original video and it made me sick to my stomach . At first the dog bit her for about 5 seconds, let go and went back to the cop, who had clearly established control at that point and could have had a successful, efficient arrest of a cooperative and relatively unhurt person. Unfortunately, over the next 6 seconds the cop does not re-leash the dog (even though the dog literally goes to him). Because the cop continues to yell at the woman, it prompts the confused dog to consider the woman still a threat, and so the dog attacks her again for one full minute before the handler could get the dog off of her.

  3. K9's should never be used in that capacity. Dogs don't have the capacity to appreciate they don't need to use extreme violence as opposed to humans. They want to please their masters and they will behave in such a manner.

  4. Don't know about this one ! First we have seen to many times the lengths people will go to to keep from going to jail and how they will become violent over petty crimes and turn a misdemeanor warrant into a felony, so the officers had no idea of the level of the threat. Also this was a trailer so there is no way she didn't hear him announce twice that he was going to release the dog. If someone tells me they are going to turn a dog loose on me then I'm going to take them seriously and apparently she was willing to take the risk of being bitten to keep from going to jail so what other risks and lengths was she willing to go to to stay out of jail ?

  5. I'm personally of the opinion that we should stop using dogs in law enforcement. They're unreliable and unpredictable. Not to mention, they're a permanent method that cops use to circumvent the 4th amendment, by claiming their dogs alerted to vehicles when innocent motorists don't consent to a search.

  6. I'd like to correct you on one major point. We don't have constitutional rights, the Constitution doesn't grant us rights, God does. The Constitution protects our rights from those badged thugs.
