“Today as our team arrived at Planned Parenthood’s surgical center in Columbus, OH a law enforcement officer was talking with others who had already arrived to pray and counsel with women going inside. I walked about to see what was being discussed and the officer told me that if we displayed our signs and stood on the sidewalk to witness to the men and women going inside that we would be in violation of the Stay at Home order which was issued by Governor Mike DeWine earlier this week. I pointed out that there were several exceptions to the stay at home order, one being for those who are engaging in First Amendment protected speech. The officer said that he had been given orders by the Columbus Police Department Legal Counsel to essentially ignore the provision and cite anyone for being there. He said that we would be charged with a class 2 misdemeanor if we did not comply. I called to seek counsel from Created Equal’s President, Mark Harrington and the law enforcement officer also sought clarification as well. Within a few minutes, he returned, admitted that he was wrong and that we could stay to counsel the women seeking abortions. We were told we still could not have more than 10 people on the sidewalk with us and we had to maintain proper social distancing.

I have great respect for those in Law Enforcement. I understand that they are working in difficult situations and are trying to follow orders that they receive. However, our rights to free speech and entering into the public square are important and so I want to always challenge any unjust laws. As a believer in Christ I know that all human beings are created in His image and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.” -Ian Spencer (CEF)

  1. Crazy how rare it is to find an officer who actively admits to their mistakes and takes corrective action to remedy his mistakes. If only the majority of our country’s LEOs were like this.

  2. I've been watching for a little over a year, and have contacted lackluster about issues in my area. I believe that there are good cops out there and I appreciate all of them, but also they need to hold accountable their coworkers who bend and break the laws they've sworn to protect. It's nice to see that some officers don't blindly enforce laws they don't know or fully comprehend, and are willing to educate themselves, especially on scene. I commend this officer wholeheartedly. But I'm also disheartened and ashamed of the people from Michigan, my state, that were putting their own wants over other people's needs.

  3. let's do an experiment, I suggest all the "auditors" stop and sign up to be policemen.
go to the academy. and then rise up in rank. and then have a program where for a week of every three years.
all policemen go to classes regardless of rank and then take up the constitution classes.
also as a refresher course. and then go on patrol yourselves…lack of sleep, high stress, the possibility of dying.
i don't mind the audit, but to be disrespectful of police and cursing in front of them is actually toxic. be more articulate yourselves and communicate better with clear descriptions of the direction of the discussion you intend to go.

  4. This is what I've been saying. Social gathering is defined as 10 or more people. Anything less is allowed. Wich is why it's total bs that some store owners got in trouble for being in their store to do a Facebook live (she had the store closed and was the only one their but cops harrassed her and wouldn't let it go, told her she couldn't be in her own store at all regardless of it being closed)

  5. When I was a teenager I was walking home from work and a cop pulled up. He asked me my age and I told him 17 to which he said "I'm arresting you for curfew violation". I informed him 17 was the state curfew age so I was of age, he told me no it's 18 and cuffed me. He took me to the police station and his superior freaked out telling him "You need to take him back, he's 17". It turned out he was new and came from a town that had a cerfew for under 18. He was so embarrassed. I have told that story for 26 years now whenever people say "ask a cop" or anything about cops knowing the law.

  6. Military enforce orders…Law enforcement enforce laws. Without a law established thru due process, police have no legal authority. This police officer was very nice though – Respect.

  7. This IDIOT cop is nothing more than an order taker. He has NEVER read the Constitution nor does he care about it. He is just like the Nazis and will burn you because his boss told him to. What a waste of a human being. Also, the "Stay At Home" order is ONLY a Suggestion. They CAN NOT MAKE you do that. It is a voluntary order ONLY !!!!!

  8. Looks like the government bs is finally falling apart I've never been so proud of my fellow Americans now all states all Americans stand up TAKE BACK your lives and your freedom now let's hear it WE WL NOT COMPLY. again WE WILL NOT COMPLY.

  9. Why should a LEO have to call someone if they see it goes against the Constitution that they swore to uphold.. especially when its just an order and not a law, makes no sense

  10. It should probably be noted why statutes allegedly giving governors the authority to make "stay at home" orders do not meet the "due process" requirement. SCOTUS says that the "due process" right in the 5th Amendment is a JUDICIAL process (evidenced by the use of the term "of law"), not a legislative or executive process. "Due process" requires conviction for a crime before the loss of your life, liberty, or property as a PUNISHMENT for CRIMES. "Stay home" orders relieve citizens of their liberty without the required "due (judicial) process."

This is usually where some dumb ass will say "The crimes is violation of the stay home order." No, it's not. With stay home orders, the restriction of citizens' liberty COMES FIRST, without the required "due process." So, no, that's not the crime. If it is, it's a very unusual crime that the state purports to punish – by forcing you to stay home (punishment by way of a loss of "liberty") BEFORE the crime is committed. (In other words, if you take your punishment – house arrest – you won't be charged with the crime for which the house arrest is punishing you. How much sense does that make?) No sane judge would contemplate such nonsense and no rational person would make such an argument. Only dumb asses.

  11. This is a great video… all cops take a lesson from that officer. I still think he should have offered that option to verify everything through legal based off of what two gentlemen had presented instead of doing it after a demand.

  12. One month later and we are still locked down in the People's Soviet Utopia of Washingtax. Heil Inslee, Comrades! BTW – Attorney General Barr says the Constitution HAS NOT BEEN SUSPENDED.

  13. I think you could make a very strong case that any tickets or charges recieved while the county courts are closed have zero merit. There is zero due process while the courts are closed.
