  1. I try to take ownership right away so that I can put more than enough effort into correcting the behavior or fixing the mistake. We're human, we make mistakes, but when you deflect, makes you wonder if it was intentional.

I'm not surprised that an officer of the laws is lacking a little integrity. This is expected behavior, by design.

  2. I would argue that Johnson V. Miller 1982 is a distinctly different set of facts than this video presents: The bank took out a criminal complaint against Johnson, giving her name and address. Johnson was the named suspect. The fact that the bank was confused is not technically the cops fault according to our Justice System (Where you can be actually innocent and be denied release, as long as all of the proper procedures are followed throughout the district court and appellate court and so on). They failed to withdraw the criminal complaint against Johnson despite being notified after her first arrest. This is a completely different set of facts. Also, presumably the record has advanced since 1982. It would be an interesting case to try at the 7th Circuit.

  3. Ok I find a couple of things wrong here.
1). Cop got called for what, loading up stuff from a storage bldg. The guy showed the paper for storage. This should have ended the encounter.
2). After the encounter the deputy, got everyone's I.D. for no crime. I feel that's a 4th ammendment violation. Illegal detention false imprisonment. Kiddnapping.
Putting him in cuffs is cruel and unusual punishment.. cuffs are torture, so 8, th ammendment violation. After verification of being wrong. No warrant for the guy they arrested. So maybe 14th ammendment violation. Dispatch verified the correct information. But the deputy didn't confirm the information. Date of birth, digits for SSN. I think this is a complete abuse of power. Also Putting the in cuffs excessive use of force

  4. At least the cop took him back. I got hauled in on a bogus charge and got it dropped shortly after getting to the magistrate office. I was then told I was free to go. I told the officers that they brought me there on bogus charges. They said I was released and getting back to my vehicle wasn't their problem. The only fortunate thing I encountered was they didn't call to get my vehicle towed.

  5. Just like any job you can not just pluck any guy off the street sprinkle pixie dust over them and say go do it, just like you can't just spinkle pixie on just anyone to make a doctor, a machinist, a mechanic, a lawyer. What could go wrong? Then you through in now lets don't hold them accountable for their actions……. what could go wrong?

  6. No harm no foul! Right?! He was wrong & lied. But the man who was arrested wasn't bothered much. It's all our in the open now so maybe if there's any thing that needs fixing ie: better training or something, then possibly the captain over there will see 2 it.

  7. Realistically it’s both of their faults but then blaming his dispatch for the whole thing is wrong, he didn’t have to take him anywhere if he looked at his date of birth right from the start he’s a crooked cop just like most of them and failing to be honest proves that only my opinion.

  8. I'm going to give the police this one . People use different DOB , Names ,etc .Be thankful this cop corrected his and dispatch mistake . You know there are cops out there that would have said screw it ,let the jail and judge figure it out .

  9. so let me get this straight, they just have a name and birthday for a warrant? No photo? No last known description? No ID image? So other than hearing a name, hearing a confirmed (with missing the wrong info) there is nothing to say "this is your person". What is to stop an officer from randomly picking someone up that they claim is X name that matches X name on Z warrant?

  10. Any agency trying warrants against a national, or international, database can't identify based on just a name. They have access to other details such as DOB, SS#, & DL#. Only a totally incompetent fool could arrest the guy without confirming a single valid detail. Many people have the same name.
This is really hard to believe as real. Police aren't that incompetent. This would be sub 70 IQ.

  11. I don't think he did anything wrong. But the only way to really know is to hear him call in the names. If he gave the dispatcher there DOB then she should not have. Know what the more I think of this. It's all on the dispatcher. I'm just being real. I'm a convicted felon who hates the police. But go after the bad ones. Not saying he is a good one. But from this video I would be comfortable being stopped by him opposed to some

  12. This so called mistake is in fact a serious failure to check personal details by the police officer. The fellow who was detained, deserves a full apology and compensation for being handcuffed and taken to the police station.

  13. Why surrender an ID when it still does no good against false identification or arrest? This is completely the fault of the officer, and there should be accountability for it on his part.

  14. The cop should go to jail the dispatcher should be fired and charged. I can be sued and jailed at my shop if I mess up a vehicle because I didn't double check my work. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK!

  15. The police have to be held to higher standards. He made a mistake and his inability to take responsibility means he's not trustworthy. His word is not good because not only did he not take responsibility he then lied. Big red flags!

  16. So besides the blame game of who was wrong, the guy still was arrested. But what i have noticed on many videos is police type on their laptops, text on phones, talk on phones while driving, see it in video of chases, and routine. Does police have some sort of immunity us mere mortals don't have? Given all the money spent on psa' etc, why?

  17. Now Officer Stupid, is using a phone whilst driving, thus endangering his captive passanger. I doubt the supervisor investigated this incident at all. Then he lies again, saying the date of birth WAS the same and now it's just the SSA# being off "just a couple digits". The court set the bar low, because they know how stupid the average cop is.
