66 year-old John Hardwick is a dementia patient who loves to shop with his wife at the Walmart in Danville, Kentucky. As they were shopping, he became separated from his wife. He ended up being harassed by employees of Walmart, who then asked their cop buddies to join the harassment. Several officers with the Danville Police Department then violently arrested John. Surveillance footage captured one of the officers punching Mr. Hardwick 6 times. Sadly, they subsequently continued to prosecute him. Fortunately, his wife hired a great lawyer, and he blew the coverup wide open.

  1. Thugs that wear a tin star,,
One of the officers was a middle-aged man, well seasoned with the force, and certainly has dealt with people with dementia before and yet he let the younger officers just run amok with that poor gentleman. Every officer there on the scene is complicit as well as the loss prevention person from Walmart and that clerk that lied.

  2. Everyone of those officers involved need to be disciplined. All they did was immediately assume he was a criminal with no investigation at the scene. Especially the moron, who was clearly punching him after he was down. That officer needs to be charged with 1st Degree Felony Assault in this scenario since he showed willful disregard for the subjects' well-being and welfare.

  3. I can't tell you how many times I've made calls and videos of Walmart employees' mistreatment of customers.
    Too many!
I hope this man's attorney sues Walmart and this Police Department!

  4. Know I don’t know what’s the matter with Wal-Mart. They are the most entitled bunch of people I have ever encountered. I just do not shop there. I have to be desperate to walk in that store. I feel so sorry for this guy and what they did to him. It’s just unbelievably cruel and evil.

  5. When there seems to be no higher authority preventing police from acting without proof of a crime, and when there seems to be no fear of accountability felt by officers, one begins to wonder if there is some kind of effort to get the general population to submit to a more authoritarian approach to government, the officers not knowing that they were hired for their sadistic tendencies as revealed by psychological testing during the hiring process. After all, many officers fired after a failed cover-up by one department, are immediately hired by another. I say this because police corruption is ongoing and never-ending, as revealed by these countless videos. I say this also because, as crises (climate as the main one) continue to develop, the one thing people in power and of wealth want to survive with is their privileges and higher standards of living. I believe that they know that the only way they can do this without being shamed into compliance with the rest of us is to gain the upper hand by whittling away democratic and constitutional rights to the point that they are forever in power and forever wealthy (it's happened elsewhere). It's probably the one thing that Liberals and Conservatives can agree on…hence police corruption goes on without a break.

  6. The elderly population is about to be larger than ever. Cops will need to be trained to think about common medical conditions of the elderly.

This is your 3rd video about elderly people getting beat/slammed to the floor by an officer(s) this is a urgent issue that police need to resolve.

  7. Assault, battery, elderly abuse, kidnapping, willful indifference, excessive force, deprivation or rights under color of law…

I mean I’m no expert but if they took that uniform out of the picture I’m pretty sure I could make the case.

  8. The cops seem to have problems with seniors with dementia. Several videos on UT detailing this problem. I think it’s time for Law Enforcement to recognize this problem and start dealing with it in a most respectful & responsible manner.

  9. People with Dementia should have a special id saying he suffers from dementia and should list phones number to call about the dementia patients i've seen so many dementia and autism video's it makes me sick to my stomach to see how there treated we have to do something besides this video

  10. Isn't it awesome that we have video upon video of cops mistreating innocent people and hardly ever being held accountable for it. Then, when the point gets pushed, who is it to investigate if the cops did anything wrong? Their own people. Why is it next to impossible to put badges on men and women that actually know and do the job right? Where are the good cops when these tyrants are making a mockery of their brothers in blue?

  11. Well it seems our police officers nation wide are highly trained in everything but human behavior. I think there is another like this in Colorado where the cops were bragging aBout beating up and breaking the arm of a elderly dementia woman.

  12. Walmart ain't the real problem here. It is the CORRUPT police and especially the asst. county prosecutor that committe a FEDERAL crime by denying him his Constitutional rights. They should be brought up on FEDERAL charges, not state.
