Cops Afraid of Livestream | Lawsuit Backfires

Most people understand and accept that citizens have a constitutional right to record video of interactions with police officers, at this point – in general. Law enforcement has fought that every step of the way, of course. But is there a right to “livestream” encounters with police officers? More specifically, does a passenger of a vehicle detained at a traffic stop have a constitutional right to livestream the encounter from his cell phone?

  1. Cops are afraid they will be caught violating our rights. They have to try and stop the cameras so they can ensure their actions and words will not be seen by the public I' absolutely disgusting that they think they can video us but we can't video them. FTP

  2. Where are the rights of the poeple going under the rights of the police state. In the eyes of that judge the poeple are the enemy of the police state and that's how they treat the poeple. We are loosing our constitutional rights to a fear that cops indescrimanately make to get around our rights.

  3. Great argument by the judge – cops then can always check phones if they are live and then delete shit. Wonderful, officer safety needs to be above all, the constitution suxx anyways. Freedom is creepy, call the police!

  4. These judges gotta go, they are too old, their good for certain shit but bad for certain things, a gang could come he said, this old white judge probably hasn't been in public in 50 years and watches the news and thinks shit is like mad max out their 😂

  5. that judge is caught up in the the way things are right now way of thinking. Believing some state of perpetual bogey man criminal out to get them. Anything can happen anywhere if your making hypothetical not based on facts and similarly anyone can in that realm be made into criminal despite no actual wrongdoing. The live stream adds eyes to situations they'd rather not face, the additional scrutiny is what seems to be actual problem. I have seen situations where cops have bystanders in proximity but push them further away to not witness or be able to accurately witness feels like same thing here.

  6. If the cops see a crime live on a cam, they will go and investigate that crime. If the cops win this, will they be against the law when they see crimes live in the future?

  7. You don't need an app that live streams. You need one that records video and saves the files remotely. Huge difference, as no one is viewing the broadcast, but you still have the security of the video being recorded somewhere other than on the phone itself. They do exist.

  8. Look at this slimy criminal making up "laws" on the spot. He didn't think twice about shoving his sticky paws toward that phone and then yanking on the seat belt to pull the driver back. This is the kind of officer that would plant evidence.

This criminal doesn't like live stream, because he can't destroy the video evidence.

  9. I guess the next step would be to also confiscate phones, they can call a gang of their buddies during the stop. It's scary to consider that we wouldn't be able to record or even live stream cops for our safety

  10. Way too many crooked cops dirty cops and there's way too many Democratic dirty judges who must be removed from the bench and put behind bars. This country must get back on track with a Republican president to put these tyrants away for good.

  11. This is yhe right time to bring up abuse of power. Across every phase of life from teacher. Dr, cops, politicians & boss abuse happens. Yet we fail to read the red flags, until someone is harmed. When someone in power has qualified immunity, the lies cover ups & abuse rules. Without the ease of recording today many actions of abuse of power would be difficult if mot impossible to prove. Tax payers foot the bills for their actions. The city of Chicago paid out 18m to settle cases in 2018. Lets use what the cops always say "if you don't have anything to hide…" Well if cops don't have anything to hide?? Safety? Abuse is constant when we are stopped for sitting in the park. If safety is the issue what would stop someone that sees a cop in a traffic stop & they go live? Nothing has happened. There is no other profession that allows the cusin, lies, brutality, abuse, sexual abuse, having your complete life turned upside down, family traumatized children taken, then 6 hours later the charges are dropped. The Intimidation is a huge factor in abuse of power, quotas, recorders left on we hear what they really want to do, the racism, inability to admit making a mistake, wrong name or address, but the deep desire to add more charges. Search warrant with swat teams for the 3rd time to the same address knowing the new home owners have no connection to the person listened on warrant. Who stand up for the innocent in these cases before more trauma is endured? When people are stopped arrested never knowing the reason (check social media tons of wrongful arrests) the costs to the innocent is astronomical. The powerful become even more petty & often abusive. Look at the private judging, Murdough murders, the private & highly paid speeches & gifts given to the supreme court (most never declared) stock trading by politicians. – very telling when the large stock purchases have a connection to the committee the politicians sit on! Raid of Marion Co newspaper (signed a warrant by a judge with 2 DUIs, served by the Sheriff with a shady record) all because a restaurant owner was concerned about her own DUI history becoming public &the possibility of losing her liquor license . Yes they were all friends, restaurant owner judge Sheriff they wanted the newspaper to pay & they had the means & power to send a message to every citizen that would ever question their power. Who really needs the protection from power ? Most of the abuse begins & there is no way to stop it, no way to verify a warrant valid until a night is spent in jail & attorneys costs incurred. Being transparent is the only way to stop the abuse of power & restore respect to the positions
