I learned to either not answer, take a page out of their playbook(pull the deny / counter accuse), or answer with another question.

The police dont need a reason to run your plate. Period. Lets be real here. The police did nothing wrong. They didnt demand ID, they didnt threaten hime with unlawful arrest, they didnt detain him or interfere with his lawful activities. The guy was kinda being a dick. Was he right about the law regarding his guns and fishing? Sure. Was the cop probing for info he wasnt entitled to? Sure. But if youre gonna respond to a cop like that a cop is gonna do what cops do, which is run plates. Which is perfectly legal. They can run any plate any time for any reason or no reason.

As of early April DeSantis has signed into law that any person that is lawfully allowed to purchase a weapon is now allowed to carry that weapon concealed. So now the cops really have an OH SH!T PROBLEM when anyone they encounter could be carrying and have no responsibility to notify a cop they are carrying.
If I was this guy I wouldn't be saying anything to these cops because they can use anything you say against you just like they used what he told them to run his plates.
