It started in the 60s with the Miranda rights, then we added two cops to a car, then it was called for back up, then we added body cams, and then the dash cams, then we started with the oversight boards, because I A wasn’t doing their job. And none of these very expensive ways to stop. The violence has not worked. I believe it’s even gotten worse. And oh yes, they added an extra weapon that was supposed to be less lethal so that not as many people would be shot dead at a traffic stop. Now we have Tayser in 20 times and head stomping, and throwing people into windshields, and let’s not forget the poor guy who was thrown in the back of a patty wagon handcuffed, and was thrown around so badly that he is now permanently paralyzed. And don’t even talk to me about the restraint chair in the jails. The last guy I heard about not only was beaten, well strapped to the chair, but then put in the kitchen freezer and died. And what about the bedbugs and maggots that that poor man lived with four weeks until they basically ate him to death. The solitary confinement has got to end, as well as putting people in jail before they’ve been convicted of anything. One woman just died, pre-trial. Guess what she died of, they refused to give her her HIV medicine. They left her naked in her cell, she went blind in a week and they turned off the water in her self so she crawled around the floor because she couldn’t walk or walk without her meds in her own feces in urine, unable to either find or get to her food. So she succumbed to the HIV in combination with the starvation and the deplorable conditions that they left her in. She begged for help and they picked into the room and said she’s fine. There was no medical check on her for over a month. She had not been charged with a crime.
