Update: WV Judge in Traffic Stop Video: Trial Just Ended

You may remember the West Virginia Circuit Court Judge who was pulled over in a traffic stop by the Moorefield Police Department, resulting in the dash cam footage going viral on various Youtube channels, including my own, which is where it was first released to the public. Judge Carter Williams ended up being formally charged with judicial disciplinary charges. While those charges were pending, Judge Williams got in trouble again due to allegations he left Walmart with merchandise, but without paying. More judicial disciplinary charges were tacked on…. Well, his judicial disciplinary bench trial just ended, following three days of testimony before West Virginia’s Judicial Hearing Board, which is sort of an ethics court comprised of judges and a few appointed citizens.

  1. I hate being in state of mind that compells me to "defend" corrupt state/city workers. But it definitely looks to me as though this "hero cop" who is supposed to be serving and protecting the citizens is doing everything he can to escalate this encounter solely for the purpose of antagonizing the judge so that he can be the one who cuffed and kidnapped a judge

  2. When the first words out of his mouth were "I'm Judge Williams", before the cop even said hello, you know he was expecting to be let off with a warning. His excuse was so pathetic! He knows he's not supposed to be using his phone, so if it fell down between the seat and the door, he should have just left it there. There should have been no reason that he couldn't wait until he arrived where he was going, and then simply open the door, get out, and look under the seat. And why would he be holding the phone 📱☎ in his right hand AFTER he picked it up off the floor, when he can't use it? Any normal person would have just left it in the console, shirt pocket, or passenger seat, because holding it and driving with the steering wheel in that hand, is just plain stupid. 📵 He only apologized later to the cop, after he knew he could lose his law license 🎓 😡for how rude and belligerent he was. 🤡💯🧠🕵 He thought he was King in that community.🤴 What a moron.

  3. Can you imagine getting a ticket, bieing pissed about so you decide to track down and show up at a police chiefs or say a police commisionre etc, showing up at their house to complain about a ticket, what do you think would happen to you, id bet any money you would be leaving in cuffs. Whi exactly does this judge think he is. Unbelievable.

  4. Cop made him feel like he wasnt part of the team which the judge obviously felt like he was but not anymore so now the system will have to rid itself of him before he exposes it as gov money grabbing operation against the public , When you think about all the ways gov taxes or takes money from the people it's a miracle the people aren't all homeless and starving, but that's probably just around the corner with what democrats in Washington are now doing with inflation and climate change policies .

  5. i dont get it, i see nothing wrong with what happened ? that judge is allowed to be upset and human on his own time,. if anything the cop pulling him over for having a phone in his hand is a bit silly and i would be upset myself

  6. So it looked to me that the officer did not give him a ticket for holding his cell phone, no seatbelt and having an expired license? And why didn't the officer conduct a field sobriety test given the way the judge was shaking?

  7. Custer, eh? Well, Your Former Honor, Custer was an arrogant fool who got what he deserved at The Battle of the Greasy Grass (a.k.a. Little Big Horn). He wanted to pincer three tribes into a wholesale massacre, AND LOST. His colleague, Reno, was wiser, and backed off. A much better example.
Yeah, yeah, this has nothing to do with the case at hand, but the attitude shown was, indeed, "Custer-like:" Rules for thee, NOT for me.

  8. Claims he wasn't making a call, then, almost immediately starts with a "tu quoque" accusing the police officer of also making calls while driving. 'Cos that's what an innocent person would do. As if the likelihood that police officers also drive while using the phone makes his actions any less dangerous. The judge was so angry about this traffic stop that he's literally shaking.
I'm not usually one to defend the police (I've seen too many situations where police are the cause of the problem), but in the cases when they actually ARE working to make the roads safer, i.e. stopping people who are driving while impaired, and preventing speeding, I am 100% behind them.

  9. While this outcome was against the judge the cop’s de-escalation methods consist of poking a bear while still caught in a bear trap huh? The cop should have known to approach in a more positive way while still maintaining his authority and integrity against the judge. I think both sides can hopefully learn how to conduct themselves down the road.

  10. The people have the right to petition our government for change and we are the people who have the right to fair laws. get this man out of office now. Lets start a petition to remove all immunity it is our rights to do this .

  11. The judge's anger escalated when the police deliberately heated the situation by harassing the judge.

Unfortunately the matter turned into a branch (conflict of interest) when the judge's anger became a personal matter for revenge.

This case reminds me of youtube footage:

Cop Pulls over Judge, Judge uses is position of power to get off quickly.

  12. From the video i saw something completely different from everybody else.
If he had dropped his phone he should have left it there so he didnt look like he was talking on it
He was mad cause he was accused of talking on it but he should have been able to prove that he was not ,in court with time stamps .
I thought he was referring to his seeing cases every day that should not have even been charged . heavy handed illegal police, cases brought to him by police , he was sick of seeing civilians lives destroyed by over zealous unlawful policing.
I thought he was indicating he was no longer going to allow unlawful charges to be brought against civilians in his court. the cops behaviors in general have been out of control and hes not going to sit quietly and let them railroad people anymore.
I think the idea that he was threatening the judicial system with a vendetta was a stretch i think he has seen the law subverted for too long.
Too bad for him that he did not start standing up against over policing before he got pulled over.
I just see people through my gentle heart too much .
