Federal Judge Blows Whistle on Lying Cops

Reuters reported a few days ago on a recent set of court orders from a federal judge in West Virginia finding a troubling pattern of illegal search warrants obtained by drug task force officers.

Unbelievably, instead of prosecuting perjury, the prosecutors begged the Court to reconsider disclosing the lies and thus ruining a cop’s career for lying under oath to a judge.

I’ve compiled the orders with all of the officers and their lies, for all to see, at the link, including the one I handled, which resulted in a financial settlement.

  1. American law enforcement are an antiquated, dangerous, and unproductive attempt at law and order. This system is rotten to the core, and no rational person could see the summation of their behavior and think anything but abolition would be affective.

  2. John I totally support you 100% and love what your doing and that you got the balls and back bone to stand up and put these tyrants on blast. I’m sure it’s troubling and stressful knowing you could become the target of made up nonsense to try to silence you. I appreciate what your doing.
I also think that we the people need to start putting together volunteer task forces to to go over every second of body cam from every arrest , every page of paperwork, and scrutiniz every arrest in every jurisdiction and at some point in a perfect society this will soon be common place. The police are the biggest waste of money in America and the biggest criminals

  3. How is it that the system, at all levels, does not compel a structure an d oversight for thorough, automatic screening by prosecutors' offices of every case and immediate prosecution of all illegal acts by law enforcement? How is it that this is not the first duty of prosecutors? Instead, prosecutors aide and abet. How about creating the ability of a private citizen to initiate prosecution of state actors such as police, judges and ESPECIALLY prosecutors who commit or aide and abet criminal acts? As soon as accountability and responsibility for accountability is built into the system and becomes the normative standard, all, including law enforcement, will be the better for it and wonder why it was not done a century ago.

  4. Once a cop is found to have lied to get a warrant, he should be made unemployed. I would settle for that cop never being allowed to make a sworn statement to obtain a warrant, which would effectively end his career.

Prosecutors being concerned that it jeopardizes a cop's career and trying to protect lying cops clearly have the wrong priorities and we should be reconsidering whether that prosecutor should retain his job.

  5. I read a book by a cop, I forget what it was called, but in it he bragged that they have a term for testifying; testilying. Yes, he was bragging that he and other cops lie so much that they have a term for it. Lying in court, to get people convicted.
