You are at a distinct disadvantage if you do not have a very deep understanding and knowledge of traffic citations in your state. Depending upon the officer to update and explain these to you on site is an impossible expectation.
Rather than doing this, you can look up or Google issues of traffic stops in your state. And you should always have an attorney's contact # on your phone. Best to have a DUI attorney. They are usually open 24 hrs.
In my state, if I REFUSE an on site breathalyzer, my driver’s license will be suspended for a minimum of a year, on the spot.
Most drivers are unaware of this here. Don’t expect the officer to tell you this. Once you refuse, they may just impound your car on the spot.
You DO have the right to inspect their calibration for the device. That’s what I have in my car.

I can attest to cops having distain for the community they serve. My uncle is a cop and he hates law abiding citizens. He once told me if he ever caught someone open carrying, they would nail them with every single citation that they could think of. He’s a tyrant.
You know I was thinking this morning of some people saying things like most cops are heroes or most cops are good, this is rare…I see new videos everyday, so it doesn't feel rare. Secondly if a 'good' cop stands by and does nothing when he sees another cop doing wrong, is he really a good cop?

I’ve been stopped several times by the Dallas PD and surrounding PD for various non criminal reasons, (taillight out, headlights off at night, etc), and only ONCE did I receive an actual ticket!! And that was only a $20 fine!!
