I have a brother who was driving across multiple states to put cash down on a house two years ago. In one state he was pulled over by DEA Task Force officers, simply on the basis on him having an out of state license plate. They asked if he had large sum of cash. He felt he had nothing to hide so he answered their questions and even consented to a search, which led to seizure of all that money. At some point, they brought a drug sniffing dog, and they were abusing the dog by yelling at it and choking it with their leash. They got the dog to signal that it found something in the back seat which "justified" their search. My brother spoke to a attorney afterwards and concluded that it would cost so much money and time that it wouldn't be worth it to try to get it back. My brother gave up and moved on with his life and the DEA Task Force thugs got away with their heist.
