  1. Can you make out any of what the other cop is saying to Officer Novotny?

  2. I would love for you to offer your thoughts on something that I've heard, while not actually in any law I've been able to find… however, If a Police Officer does not identify as "law enforcement" and their authorizing agency i.e. xxxx city police or yyyy sheriff…
Failure to identify by a police officer, has an interesting side note… If someone states they are a law enforcement official, and they're not… it's a felony.
So, while "policy" of pretty much every Law Enforcement entity, is to identify "when requested"…
So, if they don't identify, I ignore them and basically state that until they identify as a cop, they're clowns in costume…
Funny thing is, they always elect to state so and so from such and such… how interesting.

  3. Question: is it legal to NOT show id when pulled over? It's impossible to know if officer has reasonable suspicion, b/c they do not have to articulate it to you. I find myself confused about my rights in this case.

  4. In light of the universally recognized gesture wherein the extended middle finger conveys a highly offensive and disrespectful message, it raises the question of whether law enforcement had a valid basis for pursuing legal action. Specifically, one might consider whether the actions could potentially lead to the arrest of the individual involved on grounds of (a) employing obscene language and (b) engaging in behavior that could be construed as sexual harassment.

  5. Police can make shit up for probable cause. Over the center line is a good one. You basically have to prove he's lying and unless you have video it's very unlikely the judge will believe you over the dishonest cop. Luckily the police I've dealt with have been fair. Since I grew a beard I started getting searched more at the Canadian border. I think there's an unconscious bias of suspicion of men with beards.

  6. With the intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm…………. key words. The officer cannot be the public that is inconvenienced, annoyed, or alarmed!

  7. is anyone else bothered by the officer having a chest mount for a body camera, but NO body camera? P.S. was he on-duty at the time, or taking the vehicle home/to work as another perk at taxpayer expense?

  8. The police the politicians/judges and elite are out of control in this country. It would literally take a revolutionary war to get it back. We the 99 are paying the price for pretty much everything, and sometimes the ultimate price while they can literally do anything. It's time for them to be held accountable

  9. I'm always nice and polite to everyone, not just cops, unless there is a reason not to be.. BUT, it is gratifying to be able to educate cops as to what is and what is not illegal.

  10. Yeah the cop was in the wrong, but, that really doesn't warrant calling him names, If you worked a customer service job and someone started going off on you and calling you a piece of shit, you probably wouldn't like that, right? this cop realized his defeat when his supervisor showed up, no need to act like a 10 year old.

  11. Honestly though this guy was out looking for trouble and being a complete douche bag.

The cop was in the wrong but this guy was just being a general piece of shit.

Get treated how you treat others, pretty simple.

  12. The fact that this guy was recording the encounter may have saved him from a beating and illegal "resisting arrest" imprisonment and charge. When a cop rolls up after getting flipped off and he's clearly removed his body cam from its mount, you know he's looking for an opportunity to do violence.

  13. I tell you what, where I'm from if someone was as openly aggressive and dismissive of a Police Officer, he would get absolutely beat down and deservedly so. He is the aggressor, he believes he's above the law. He believes he can treat Cops like dirt just because he doesn't like them. If he had flipped off someone in a bar and got a slap, people would say he deserved it. But when he does it to a Cop, it's no big deal. Why didn't his bestie 'Tom' pull him to the side and explain that it wasn't a nice thing to do? Maybe because Tom knows he's an a-hole. Not only does he use foul and abusive language while in his vehicle, which can be heard by any children in the vicinity, he goes large with it when he gets out of his vehicle, approaching Officer Novotny's patrol car and acting in a threatening manner. Officer Novotny gets an A+ here.

  14. the officer may have been in the wrong however the car takes not having manners way too far just because you can do things doesn't mean you should should. although you can cuss at a minister in a church it's not the right thing to do on your part.
