Have you seen the police video series “Fridays with Frank” from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office? On the surface, it portrays upstanding officers having polite interactions during traffic stops. But is there something more insidious going on?
In this video, I critically analyze “Fridays with Frank” and make the case that it is calculated propaganda – “copaganda” – designed to cast law enforcement in an overwhelmingly positive light. Through careful dissection of the traffic stop videos, I’ll expose the manipulation tactics being used to sway public perception.
From the officer’s overly friendly demeanor and constant ego-stroking to the dismissal of clear traffic violations, the “Frank’s Loop” videos seem meticulously crafted to depict police as eminently reasonable and merciful figures. But is this just a slick psyops campaign to regain public trust amid controversy?
I’ll deconstruct the hugely popular series and urge viewers to adopt a more critical lens when consuming police-produced media. We must question whether we’re being socially engineered through insidious propaganda.
