That officer was a detective who usually are more knowledgeable than patrol officers and usually conduct criminal investigations, he should’ve known better.
There was no call for service of trespassing at that location or any complaint describing him as an offender. Hold the detective accountable for the stop and his “investigation”.

What is wrong with the Cop-Speak? Why can't they finish their sentences? It's not a question of Reasonable Suspicion or Reasonable Articulable Suspicion, it's a question of Reasonable Suspicion OF A CRIME. Why do cops and even commentators leave this important part of the phrase out? If a man is caught kissing a woman who's not his wife, there's Reasonable Suspicion of an extramarital affair, but there's No CRIME.
Another problem is so many of these guys are Playing Cops and Robbers rather than Protecting and Serving their communities. It's Cosplay and they get to bully and intimidate people. They will claim many things under the guise of an "Investigation" while not completing the most basic steps or actually observing the context in front of them.

You are falsely assuming that US police are there for law enforcement – that hasn't been true in a long time. US police are employed to run as many IDs/day as possible to search for warrants. They are also trained to escalate every citizen encounter to the point of (usually false) arrest. Their future raises/promotions are based exclusively on how many IDs they run for warrants, and how many arrests they make – even if the arrests eventually get thrown out, charges get dropped, or lawsuits get filed leading to settlements. Until we force our state/US reps/senators to abolish qualified immunity for all 24 million US public employees, we will not be able to have anything remotely resembling law enforcement from our police.
