Why is it that cops go crazy over I.D.? I will tell you why. The cops are financially incentivized with cash to get the IDs of people, no matter for what and to run their information on their IDs through the NCIC system in return the police department will receive greater funding and larger policing budgets. That money goes into the general policing budgets for their departments and can be used as they see fit, from pay increases, to New Year’s parties or anything in between. That money the police departments receive is not even on the books of the city and county financial managers as a line item on their budgets. See how the cop took the man’s wallet and went through it to get his I.D., the cop will receive money for that when he runs the man’s information through NCIC. Also, the cop violated the man’s 4th amendment right when he went looking through the man’s wallet. Cops don’t care what they have to do to get your ID as long as they run your information through NCIC to make more money for themselves by doing so. I am told by the chief of police in a large US city, who is my uncle, told me, that for every person law enforcement runs through NCIC they receive 300 to 500 hundred dollars extra to their paycheck. Also, if there is a warrant or want on the person, the cop will get an additional 900 to 1,300 hundred dollars extra on their paycheck to include the 300 to 500 dollars. Yep…bounties are real folk and bounties still do exist people. That is why the need to gain have your ID by the cops is so important to them even if you are just an average citizen with no warrants or wants in the system, however; just the mere simple act of running your ID through the NCIC system, it will generate a criminal I.D. Number for you, and that criminal I.D. number that will remain with you in their system for as long as you shall live. This is how they know your history and if you have ever contacted police or if you have ever been contacted by the police for any reason, even if the reason is benign. This is why the system of policing needs to be overhauled, but it will require an out right, all out civil war, I don’t mean civil unrest, I’m talking an all out shooting war to change the politically powerful institution of policing in America.

These officers forget they serve the people because they are often submerged in the vile results of other’s horrific behavior. Being in that environment, they become what they see around them and react violently towards anyone standing up to their authority. It’s a self perpetuating circle of hate and fear. The real question is, how long can anyone do their job before they become what they promised to protect the rest of us from. Strict oversight is required and violations of community policing standards no matter how minor should be dealt with harshly. It takes a special type of man or woman to be firm but fair and still have the compassion to serve those in need in their darkest hour. Those few should lead, not the tyrants that seek power for power’s sake. When officers act this way, it is not only the officer that must be questioned, it is those that allowed them to be in authority in the first place.
