I saw a doco awhile ago about a female corrections with 30 yrs experience (actually made it to top position of a jail) who went to Finland where they treat drug users/DUI's and minor crims etc totally differently. She was amazed at the different approach and actually cried on film saying she had been part of a system doing everything wrong all her working life.
I urge Deletelaws to please do research on what / how countries like Finland etc treat "offenders'.From memory their recidivism rates are far far better I think around 35% (Norway is even better I believe around 20%) compared to about 75% in USA. Use this info when talking to cops like in this video as even diehard cops cannot deny factual figures.
Given it costs about 70K per year to keep someone in jail just imagine the millions (sorry incorrect make that billions) that tax payers would save if America cut recidivism rates by 50%.

Maybe you should explain to the police that it is very expensive if you want to put citizens in prison for every little thing. This costs the taxpayer unnecessary money, which should rather be given to the needy. In addition, the continuous training of police officers is a very important factor. If you look at the many videos in which you can see police officers behaving like gods of the street, then you should not be surprised that not every citizen agrees with this attitude. Of course, the profession of a police officer can also bring stressful and life-threatening moments, but no one can be classified as a criminal just because they insist on their rights. If you do not commit a crime, you cannot be punished.
