You may have seen the video of the 6 year old child being handcuffed in Orlando, Florida. It’s been making its way around the inter webs. I’ve actually researched this issue before, and there was a 2018 case on the handcuffing of a 10 year old here in the 4th Circuit in 2018. I briefly discuss the applicable law, and my opinion. Where is this cop today? I wouldn’t be surprised if he was hired at another department.
Unfortunately they can detain a child on school property if they’re a liaison officer especially. I’ve seen it. But generally it was for simple assault or public affray assuming they had a good lawyer. This case however, after having watched the video, the kid was nowhere near what I assumed he was going to be like.

What happened to protect and serve ? As to hand cuffing a disabled 6 year old. I wonder if the roles where reversed and it was the police officers child being beaten with a disability ?

All I’ve ever read as far as the laws were broken down by each state, they have different laws on arresting children below certain ages.
