That's what the teach in the academy that if they ask you must ID. I'm speaking as a retired police chief that was taught the same. However I paid attention in constitutional law in my 7 years of college. It was ridiculous that I had to correct so many of my officers.

"When an officer asks for an ID, you have to provide ID". This is the thought process of many law enforcement officers; regardless of what the LAW states. They say this as a way to intimidate citizens into giving up their 4th amendment right which is unconstitutional. This is a very BASIC law that so many cops get wrong because they don't give a shit about actually enforcing the law, just their ego.

The officer "felt" you might do something bad. Sergeant felt his officer's feelings were sufficient to violate civil rights. Lots of feelings involved.

A normal human being could've said "Sir, I still need you to get a supervisor here because you had no right to use force on me"

I'm not a judge, but I think it's lawful and reasonable to order someone to step away when they are shining their camera light into the vehicle which I assume officers have forgotten to lock. They should lock it, because 100% there are weapons, valuables, and maybe even evidence inside. But the fact that they forgot to lock it does not make it unlawful to ask and order someone to step away.

Everything that's wrong with policing is evident in the recording at the precinct with the supervisor refusing to admit wrong doing.
So the sergeant calls his subordinate ask them what happened and the subordinate blatantly lies to him which is obvious because you can see it on the video. Which the sergeant watched before he called his subordinate. So his subordinate blatantly lied to his boss. It sounds to me like that subordinate officer needs to have every single one of his cases reopened and see which ones he lied under oath light on a police report or lied when he was on the stand run a trial. Because if he's willing to lie to his boss his sergeant that he's willing to lie under other situations that cop should be fired
