Folks, this is one area of law you want to completely ignore DeCastro. If the cops come banging on your door in the middle of the night, do answer it. If EXIGENT CIRCUMSTANCES (an emergency of life or death) has been reported , the cops will breakdown your door and come in, guns drawn. The house will be dark, the cops are unfamiliar with the layout. The chances of an unfortunate incident go up 10 fold.
DeCastro is telling you not to answer the door. Listen to him and you’ll regret it. He didn’t even use the right terminology, SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES vs. EXIGENT CIRCUMSTANCES.
Your best bet is to answer, hear the officers out and cooperate. If it’s a mistake, it will be cleared up and nobody gets hurt. If there is impropriety, there’s a complaint process. There’s also civil remedies. Listen to DeCastro, you’ll end up in jail or worse!
