officer Farrell of the Hillsborough police department arrives on scene.
The officer returns to his vehicle as Dog Dog continues to wait. He’s told the officer that the area is visible on Google Maps, and that they don’t drive on private property to take pictures. This is partly true.
The Santa Rosa Press conducted an investigation and quickly found over 100 private roads that had been photographed in their area. Noting one home that was photographed was over 1200 feet from a public road and passed 2 no trespassing signs to obtain the images.
Google told the newspaper that even though it has the right to photograph from private roads, it tries to avoid it.
Google spokesman Larry Yu says “Our policy is to not drive on private land,” and added that the company hires local drivers who are given specific routes to follow. But Yu retracted that statement when he was made aware of a driver who said he was told to just drive around the county and collect images.
Google’s claims to be legally allowed to photograph on private roads comes from its assertion that privacy no longer exists in the age of satellite and aerial imagery. In response to a lawsuit by a Pittsburgh couple whose home was photographed and published Google said quote “Today’s satellite-image technology means that…complete privacy does not exist,”
One of the Fathers of the internet, Vint Cerf, also said in a separate statement, That “There isn’t any privacy, get over it.”
Regardless, even if this road was private, Dog Dog was invited on by an owner. A few moments later, the officer returns.
Kent v Dulles is a Supreme court Case which held that “The right to travel is a part of the “liberty” of which a citizen cannot be deprived without due process of law under the Fifth Amendment.”
There is much more to the case and its ties to McCarthyism that don’t pertain to this incident, but I’ll link it down below.

  1. Would love to know why this road is disputed private/public. Sounds clearly public.
If it was private, wouldn’t it be obvious? Signs? Gate/fence? Not seamlessly connected to public roadway?

  2. The old “oh because of my skin colour” comment 🤣🤣 if I have learnt anything from the many videos I have seen on this channel the police violate rights regardless of your skin colour and people will call the police if they simply see an unfamiliar face.

  3. "I am here because you requested a supervisor."
My apologies sergeant. I should have been more clear in my request. I would like to speak to a supervisor that understand the LAW which clearly you do not.

  4. I hate watching videos like this..
He had no legal reason to give up his ID..
No worries, the cops run his plates anyway..
If they don't have to give up ID, cops shouldn't be able to run plates in the same encounter..
To me, that is still violating his rights..

  5. I have noticed that some peopl do go or park where it can be a gray area just to see if a connotation will happen I’m not saying they all do that but some do . Seems like some people just want to argue just to argue it just doesn’t make sense

  6. I'm an Investigator and have a badge and people have called the police on me for knocking on doors while conducting investigations. You have to be smart when you pick your battles. I understand that property owners are concerned when vehicles are parked outside and someone is just sitting in the car. I advise people to observe get license number and description and if the person is not doing anything illegal it is not necessary to call the police. However blocking someone's driveway in most states is illegal and on private roads your car could be towed.
