Bullsh!t! He's lying. If a trained, professional liar can save his career with a lie, he's going to f'n lie.
His claimed ignorance of such a basic, foundational law is absurd. Such a claim should require a termination either of him, for lying, or of his training officer, for negligence. Others that OK'd him for duty should also be looked into. It should also require an investigation into all of his arrests and possibly the arrests of any others trained as he was.
It is UNACCEPTABLE to have a LEO on duty that is either NOT PROPERLY TRAINED or is a LIAR. It's a huge liability for the community. The taxpayers should be insisting on at least one termination.
Do not let this situation end without punishment or without knowing the details of the punishment. The police have a bad habit of dishing out minor punishments to officers or none at all.

I worked as a correctional officer in two states and realized a lot of the people worked with me because Walmart literally would not hire them. You would expect that people allowed to carry guns in public would have a little higher standards… I think they might actually be worse.
