  1. Why doesn't the State Legislators step up and rein in these irresponsible police procedures? Why does it take the death of someone and the uphill battle in court to effect change to overcome the LEGISLATOR's bad laws?

  2. Training officers on "crisis intervention" is SIMPLY not enough! ALL LE departments should have "on call" mental health RN's to respond to situations like this. COPS and their 6 months of training just don't have the underlying intelligence to comprehend situations like this no matter how much training they receive. NO ONE said that he was seeing skin walkers? I didn't hear dispatch say this. This should have been communicated and EMS should have been dispatched at the same time. Also, that is likely why he didn't want to get out… if they knew that they could have reassured him. That poor boy. Police reform NOW

  3. My parents always taught me, "NEVER call the police for personal matters, or involve them in your life! They ONLY make the matters worse!" IF people understood this in most cases their lives would be better. Call the police on serious situations that you cannot walk away from, NOT for mental health issues, medical emergencies, or family spats!

You call the police, someone may die EVEN YOU!

  4. Such a sad and tragic story. I’m glad that the parents negotiated training and the other measures into the agreement, it proves that their heart was in the suit for their son and other potential victims and not the 19 million dollars; which I would bet they would PAY that and more just to have their son back. My heart aches for them.

  5. If the officer who shot this kid wrote an apology note . Noting this kid’s death was avoidable , including the clear video evidence showing it was a bad shoot . Why is this cop not in prison ? What was the expedient circumstances to get this kid out ? Why not step back and if he exited and felt threatened tased him ? There’s so many options here that someone with no training but common sense would have handled this better !we’re talking a knife. Not a gun ! There is no reasonable doubt in my mind this cop should be in prison. Is he still a cop and on the street ?

  6. I'm not disagreeing this was handled poorly and the level of incompetence. But you have a mentally ill person driving a potentially deadly weapon. This country needs to do a better job handling the mentally ill. This is why we have school shooting and people driving into crowd's of people. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

  7. I remember reading once a legal dictionary that cited case law for each definition. Under the definition of the word imminent was a case of a woman who had shot another woman who had a knife thirty feet away and on the opposite side of a campfire. The shooter was guilty because the distance from the knife wielder didn't place her in imminent danger.

The odd things that stick in memory…

  8. This makes me so mad . Most cops are stupid. He said I’ll throw them out the window and the cop said no .. break a window and use gas or a taser.. cops want to kill people . There has to be better training

  9. HOW ??? CAN A KID INSIDE A CAR CIRCLED BY COPS DO ANYTHING ? PAID FOR BY ALL OF THE TAX CATTLE! TAKE THE MONEY AND BUILD A CASTLE WITH A MOAT AND START YOUR OWN COUNTRY ! SORRY WE KILLED YOUR SON! HERE IS A LETTER! NO CHARGES!?? BACK OFF AND FIGURE IT OUT ! BREAK THE BACK WINDOW IF YOU HAD TO AND DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD! HE CAN CRAWL OUT! BUT THIS IS POWER! " WE ARE HERE TO HELP ''!

  10. The cops definitely violated Graham vs. Conner. The severity of the crime did not reach the standard for needing to use deadly force. They had plenty of distance away from arms length, even with a knife. They could have tazed him after the glass was broken on the pax side. Could have 2 officers for that. The idiot on the hood was already covering if he reached for a firearm. Just like a door breach. One breaks window. The other deploy tazer. But trigger happy cop does mag dump on individual.
Surprised he didn't do one extra kill shot to make sure. Get that extra pop in.
