A Peruvian family who resides in Bradenton, Florida, was pulled over by the Holmes Beach Police Department after an automated license plate reader flagged the vehicle’s plate as possibly being driven by someone without a valid license. The driver was Orlando Diaz, who spoke very little English. The officer asked his son, who is autistic, to translate. The officer then proceeded to have the son translate to his father that he was under arrest, rather than being given a citation. The son became quickly and visibly upset after seeing his father being placed in handcuffs. Shortly afterwards, the father would be thrown on the ground and the autistic son, Francisco Diaz, would also be thrown on the ground and tased several times.

I’ve seen hundreds of these videos of police behaving badly which is sad by the numbers. At what time do YouTube videos begin a more formal protest demanding change ? If any other profession had such a negative reputation for instilling fear ; it would be an enemy occupying army in a third world country. But police are here to ‘ Serve and Protect ‘. That’s true. A few months ago , a neighbor was in his backyard gardening. Police came to his house about a crime that they thought he witnessed. Strangely enough , my neighbor was gardening with a small shovel ( sounds suspicious … huh ? ) , my neighbor went to the side of his house on his own property when he heard the cars pull into the driveway. The police greeted him by pulling guns on him over the shovel while he was 25-30 feet away. I’m still mystified why my neighbor was angry about having guns pointed at him on his own property over a shovel. The police apologized and were leaving shortly afterwards without a witness statement.
