It should just be made law that all police and sheriff departments have to have a dedicated page on their website to upload these videos to unredacted except for personal information like phone numbers and addresses, but not names excluding victims.
Spokane PD has had problems with transparency for a long time. They are supposed to have civilian oversite, but the police union has been blocking sharing any records with them in a long, drawn out court battle that the recently replaced mayor was not supporting but the city council was. The previous mayor was using the city police and county police as enforcement, especially downtown, to chase off homeless and anyone that loitered for any reason, especially after dark. They were also doing broken window policing in conjunction with the previous county Sherriff, claiming it would take care of the budding gang violence, drug problem (lots of opioid addicts), and crime in general (replaced for not taking care of the crime problem, but tying to look like he was).
Instead it filled the county jail that was already falling apart and too small full of non-violent homeless and opioid addicts that need medical attention that the jail doesn't have the staff to handle giving to them. Then when they do have a violent offender, they end up with bail or being released by the jail after only a few days of arrest because the jail needs room for some poor homeless guy that was sleeping in a park after dark that the mayor wanted to locked up instead of the previously convicted rapist that was arrested just after finishing their sentence (there is a state prison just outside of Spokane, because the state of Washington wants the prisons as far away from Seattle as possible) on suspicion of another rape. The judge wanted them held without bond. Oh well!
I don’t know what the deal is with law-enforcement if they want you to turn your head and face away from them at all times. They act as though looking at them is an active violence against them. I’ve seen hundreds of videos where law-enforcement says turn your face away do not look at my direction like they broke a law. There is no law that I know of that says that you cannot look at a law enforcement officer at any time. It is all about power and control issues that law-enforcement have. Especially when they get Humiliated in front of the coworkers
