Former Logan PD Officer Sentenced to 9 Years for Civil Rights Violations

About 7 months ago, I posted a video about a West Virginia police officer, Everette Maynard, formerly of the Logan, WV Police Department who was found guilty by a federal jury of violating an arrestee’s civil rights by using excessive force. This was caught on video. This is the one where the officer was caught by a surveillance camera flipping the bird to the camera.Β

  1. Then the federal government needs to remove the qualified immunity on all law enforcement and make them accountable for their actions and charged when they break the law. Unlike now
Now they are nothing but a criminal gang

  2. We need to find the cop that broke a mans' ribs, his nose and other damage for his "trespassing near a closed park." When the guy was trying to ask the cop why he was being so forceful when no real crime had taken place. The victim was simply sitting in his car due to being too tired to drive after a long trip that wasn't done yet. That cop needs PRISON TIME for that egregious violation.

  3. All video from subservience cameras in the police buildings to cameras on the cops must be streamed live 24/7. With no ability to turn off either audio or video under ANY circumstances.

  4. What I want to know is what kind of prison will he be doing time in? I want this guy to be in general population and not in some cushy protective custody. I would also like to know the current status of the whistleblower – police unions and the fraternal order are notorious for retaliating against whistleblower cops.

  5. Slowly things change. Before video surveillance we all know how bad it was. Now with auto Cloud upload video cannot be easily deleted. Getting rid of the bad cops makes all of us safer, including the good cops.

  6. That's really good news, not only because the criminal cop received 9 years but also that there was another cop that acted honorable and took the correct course of action and turned a bad cop in. Let's keep the hope that what we are doing, which is being proactive against bad police and other government officials is doing some good and making some progress. Let's keep it up everybody, let's go at even stronger, louder and more agressively. Protest, go to city council meetings, write letters, send email, make flyers and pass them out, tell friends and family and just everybody you come in contact with. WE THE PEOPLE can bring about change if we actually get off our butts and do something, thank you for reading this

  7. I laugh at cops that think they are tough. These things only happen because most people are basically submissive and compliant.

If we had the right to defend ourselves against their outrageous attacks, the tables would be turned.

  8. Very pleased and relieved to see justice done. I bet he didn't expect that. How long had this cop been abusing detainees for ? I would guess a very long time. The cop was, is, mentally iII with some kind of aggressive depression. How the fuck did someone like that get into the police force in the first place ? I hope they put him among the black prisoners, so they can mess around with his dirty white ass. But how much of the sentence will he serve ? All of it ? Don't think so. I hope he's beaten senseless in his new state run, rent free home, Hee hee hee !!!

  9. Good! I hope its not a unique action by the DOJ. I hope more police officers are actually jailed and in a FEDERAL PRISON, not a PC dorm at a minimum security farm camp that is peaceful and reasonably clean. They need actual prison time at a med/max federal institution.
