If you are questioned by the police, you have the right to ask for a lawyer. This is known as your Miranda rights, which come from the 1966 Supreme Court case Miranda v. Arizona. These rights include the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney.
It is important to exercise these rights, especially if you are a suspect in a criminal investigation. Anything you say to the police can be used against you in court, so it is essential to have legal representation to protect your rights and interests.
If you are questioned by the police, you should calmly and politely request a lawyer. You can say something like, “I would like to speak with a lawyer before answering any questions.”
If you cannot afford a lawyer, the government is required to provide you with one at no cost. This is known as a public defender. You have the right to have a lawyer present during any questioning or interrogation, even if you are not under arrest.
It is also important to remember that you have the right to remain silent. You do not have to answer any questions, even if you have been read your Miranda rights. It is generally advisable to remain silent and ask for a lawyer, as anything you say could potentially be used against you.
In summary, if you are questioned by the police, it is important to remember your Miranda rights and to request a lawyer. This will help protect your rights and ensure that you have legal representation during any criminal investigation.

"Am I being detained?"
"am I free to go?"
if you're not being detained, leave. if you are, you're under arrest and it's time to shut your mouth
Two mistakes. He returned their call and attended the interview voluntarily.
Yes, they don’t like that. You know your rights. The cops are the enemy, never talk to cops. He doesn’t need your version. He’s asked for attorney.
If they are willing to send the victim to prison, what do you think their intentions with the presumed guilty are?
I plead the fifth!!!
I hate Longview washington. Worst town that I ever lived in. Thieves and road ragers everywhere, 24-7.
How do we know he did it?
Best advice I ever heard:-
"You can NEVER talk your way out of an arrest, but you can surely talk your way into one".
Vocally implement your 5th amendment rights, demand a lawyer & remind them these are not suggestions & at least till these criteria are met, the interview is over. Any further intimidation or menacing will be considered a form of compulsion & illegal under 18-241 & 18-242, have a nice day donut goblin.
YES! NEVER EVER EVER speak to the police without a lawyer. EVER! The cops don't want to help you, get your side of things, understand what happened… They want to trick you into saying the wrong thing.
And never, ever, never ever sign anything, no matter how minuscule they make it sound.
When you are under arrest, your lawyer has your voice.
Am I free to go? If Yes, then leave. If no, then Lawyer.
The fact that cop keeps asking questions after the person asks for his legal council should be grounds for dismissal and a lawsuit.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤫
👏🏻
He blew it at the beginning, BY ANSWERING THE INITIAL QUESTIONS, but otherwise, he caught himself in time (Apparently).
The set your ass down and then begin asking you ANYTHING, you instantly state you're not going to answer any question and invoke your 5th, and then demand an attorney.
Then sthu.
It's nearly impossible to talk yourself OUT of charges, but damned near a guarantee you'll talk yourself INTO THEM!
“CAN and WILL be used against you in a court of law”
Remember, you have to actually say, out loud, that you are "Invoking my 5th Amendment Rights."
There was a supreme court ruling a few years ago on the sixth amendment where they said that if the person being questioned asks for an atty, but isn't 100% clear about it, cops can just ignore it, and keep asking questions. The training for cops that came from this is "just ignore the first few times they ask for a lawyer". You need to be 100% clear when you demand a lawyer – something like "I demand a lawyer for any questions". If they keep asking question, then invoke your fifth amendment right, and then don't say another word, or just repeat your demand for a lawyer to each question.
If you are ever forced to take the stand in court just say, "I don't remember", "I am not sure", "I couldn't see clearly", "I can't make a positive I.D.
as soon as he says I WANT AN ATTORNEY that should be the end of the fishing expedition….
Why not have our Constitutional Rights posted on all interrogation room?
Once he invoke his right to attorney they questioning should have stopped, PERIOD.
Cops knows that when the interrogated ask for a lawyer it means: “thanks we are done’. Those ones are still trying to force his constitutional right
“I want a lawyer”.
They persist.
Are cops that stupid?
piggys were so sad
Great, so a violent felon goes free.
Also: dont shoot people 😂
