  1. I am again cops like this and ther training on how to escalate situations to make arrests and I am against qualified immunity as well I am glad ther wer able to sue but when u say the tax payers have to pay for this you’re making it seem as if cops don’t pay taxes.. WE ALL PAY TAXES!! And good we get our taxes back via a lawsuit!!

  2. Given the information they were told, the state cops really did nothing wrong. Thats why they didn't apologize when though doing so would have been polite at least. All of this goes squarely on the cop who issued the BOLO for the wrong car.

  3. Cops are way too relaxed when people threaten to sue. Taxpayers should not be paying for law enforcement's careless behavior. Hit their own pockets from now on and see an instant change.

  4. Robbery cases are one of the most dangerous and violent crimes officers deal with. Robbery is force or fear used to take property. It's not theft, not burglary. Robbery is in a class of its own. The officer that created the flier should have used due diligence bcuz of what I just stated and how others, like the state police that made this stop, would react. Very dangerous. Obviously he did not use due diligence as it was not the correct vehicle. I feel bad for the teen driver, and understand how terrifying it would be to a parent, the moms reaction is in no way out of line, but its my opinion the state police that made the stop did what a reasonable officer would do with the information they had. Thanks Lackluster!!

  5. It’s my view the the officers involved in the stop should be give a good deal credit for how rapidly they figured out that this wasn’t the person or vehicle they wanted. They had a specific license plate and this matched that. Yet in what was a very short period of time they sorted out that it was bad info and released the kid. How many others have we seen where cops didn’t engage their brains and continued to press bad data as if it couldn’t possibly be wrong? Considering that an armed robbery had been perpetrated by this exact vehicle as far as they knew they wound that down very quickly. You might decry the lack of empathy but don’t forget these guys had nothing to do with issuing the BOLO. That’s not to say they couldn’t have handled the mom better. But on the whole they did a great job de-escalating this one and then quickly releasing the kid.

  6. His mom overreacted and I get it that Mama Bear wants to protect her innocent son but she didn’t know the law and spoke in anger. NMSP did a good job of deescalating the incident and contacting mom, kudos to them for their handling of this mistake.

  7. QI is unconstitutional and corrupt from its premise. No reasonable person could conclude that qi is anything but incentive for wrongdoing. Criminality without consequence only breeds more criminality…which is ironically the entire basis for the establishment of community police!! The literal existence of police is clear and present proof of the necessity to end qi. Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  8. Maybe if senators and representatives weren’t millionaires, then these public servants could be paid more and have better training, access to higher quality facilities and benefits. I much rather have competent police in this country than rich senators.
