On February 22, 2019, Chicago police officers executed a search warrant at the wrong address, storming into the home of Anjanette Young, an innocent social worker. Despite her repeatedly telling them they had the wrong place, officers handcuffed Young while she was completely naked and did not allow her to cover up for several minutes as nearly a dozen male officers looked on.
The exclusive video from body cameras shows the horrifying and humiliating incident unfold as Young is frozen in fear, surrounded by armed officers yelling commands in her own home. Officers failed to do basic research that would have revealed the man they were looking for lived next door and was on home confinement with an electronic monitoring device.
This egregious violation of Young’s rights and dignity exposes the aggressive tactics and shoddy preparation that can lead to innocent citizens being traumatized during botched raids. Young’s attorney is suing the department, arguing the officers viewed her as “less than human.” The video shows a shocking disregard for Young’s rights and human dignity by the Chicago Police Department.

Until these jurisdictions go after these incompetent cops and law suits are filed in the multiple millions of dollars, there is no incentive for cities to ensure their cops aren't idiots who shouldn't even be dog catchers much less police officers. If they can't confirm the correct address and the person whom they're supposed to be looking for is inside that residence, then these types of raids should carry criminal charges against the stupid cops who conduct such raids. Americans are supposed to have the 4th Amendment protecting them from such tyrannical actions as no knock raids.
