An absolute disgrace that a police chief would support an officer behaving in this manner. Although he agreed the officer could/should have behaved differently and was in need of further training on the actual laws, not one word of apology from the chief, or the officer to Shaun, the man the officer creepily stalked, falsely arrested, and injured with excessive force. The people of America actually pay for a service like this, if this is protecting and serving then the public are better off paying the gangs for protection.
I'm sure he WILL be compensated……and very rightly so. This is egregious.

I had a cop stop me on South Temple one day for "jaywalking" i was actually in the crosswalk all the way across but dared to step out of the lines a foot before i got to the curb! I got lucky and got off with a warning .

this event makes me think about an occurrence of a police interaction with a mentally challenged (idk pc?) neighbor that i had once witnessed. i was sitting in my car in the driveway smoking a cigarette. i don't smoke in the house. it was nice weather, so i had all the windows down, and listened to the radio while smoking. while doing this i saw a police SUV park in front of the house on the intersection side of the driveway, our house being at the end of a street ending at a T-intersection, and a cop got out. so i got out of my car and asked if i could help him with something. he told me no and then walked past the driveway, and then he went up to the door of my neighbors. he knocked & stood there. knocked some more. still standing where i was, i again asked the cop if i could help him with something. he said said that he was following up on a missing person report. i explained to him that my, at the time almost 90 year old, neighbor lived there with his schizophrenic adult son. there had been several times when his son quit taking his medication which led to him wandering off somewhere on foot as he didn't drive. i said that the dad would have been the one who called in the report. i told the cop that i had seen the dad driving off when i had walked out of the house. he had most likely called the places where his son commonly would go then not finding his son called in the report, and then must have left to try to find his son. at that moment i saw my neighbor with his son driving down the road toward their house. i told the cop that there they are, and told the cop to remember that the son is a classified schizophrenic that has been off of his medication for a while. the cop said that things would be fine as such a thing was part of his training. what happened was when they pulled into the driveway the cop lit the passenger side up with his flashlight while approaching the vehicle. when the son exited he was shielding his eyes while asking who the cop who they were and why were they at their house now shining a flashlight in his face. the cop ignored that and began asking for ID. my neighbor stayed in one place standing just outside of the vehicle, ignored the question, and reiterated his question. the cop walked up to my neighbor so that the two were standing face to face. the cop told my neighbor to provide ID, or he would be taken into custody to be taken to the police station to be identified. my neighbor continued ignoring what the cop said and kept repeating his question. the cop then attempted to handcuff my neighbor, but once he tried to grab an arm, he got punched straight in the face. what happened next was the cop running up the street past his SUV with one hand on his gun belt while shouting into his walkie about officer needing assistance, with my neighbor chasing after him with an arm extended pointing towards the officer while shouting he's a fake cop. after the cop turned the corner, my neighbor walked back to his house. during this whole chase scene, i called 911. i said that at that moment one of their officers was calling in for backup. i explained the events leading up to as to why this was happening. i said that i was calling to plea for the dispatcher to make all heading this way to please understand that my neighbor is a classified schizophrenic that has been off medication for quite some time and that he is unarmed. please focus on getting the responders to understand off meds and unarmed. i ended with how after telling the initial officer about my neighbor's mental health, him telling me he had been trained for this type of interaction, and how apparently both my words and his training had no effect on what led to being punched in the face and what would happen next. please make sure all responders know schizo off meds and unarmed. then i went over to my neighbors. the dad had me help convince his son that the cop was indeed an actual cop & he would be back with more cops. in a very short time the street was filled with police vehicles on both sides of our houses. i remember that at least 8 cop vehicles of all sorts had blocked off the street. at this point the son had walked to the other side of the street and stood on the sidewalk exactly where the steps to the door of the house there met the sidewalk, then just stood with both arms extended away from his sides with open hands, palms facing forward. all of the cops got out of their vehicles and stood in the street. the ones in the street on my house side had about a half dozen of them have a brief powwow then yelled out their plan to the other officers that the six of them would detain my neighbor and the rest of them should stay put standing at attention. they then formed a wedge and drew their firearms approaching my neighbor. i, still standing with the dad, started yelling out that he's obviously unarmed. when the posse reached the son, they surrounded him with the cop face to face with him began ordering him to lie down on the ground and put his hands behind his back. the entire time from when the wedge formed up to this moment the son shouted repeatedly, "take your best shot!" the cop restated his orders saying for the son to do as he commanded and, "do it now!" the son then obeyed and allowed himself to be arrested. the result of this instance was the son receiving a probation plea deal for assaulting a police officer! smh
