  1. A one day suspension is better than NO suspension at all but it should've been at least a couple weeks of being suspended the off-duty officer should've been suspended as well for filing a false police report & lying to a officer

  2. Lawyers don't understand policing. The main purpose of police is not to 'enforce law'. That is a fiction. The main purpose is to defend the social order, i. e., SOCIAL CONTROL. This event occurred in one of the former confederate states. A low-income black talked back to a white cop (it does not matter how moderately). In the South, blacks have been killed for less. The cop then proceeded to show the poor black 'who is boss'. This butressed the social order. The cop was doing exactly what he was HIRED TO DO. The black was subjected to the system (you can't beat the ride) – and he lost his job. Unlike most of these incidents, this one got media attention. So, to maintain the FICTION that cops 'really care about justice', the charges were dropped, and a (likely very small) payment was made to the now-unemployed black. The cop got one day off (with pay?). The unemployed black still ended up a loser, media coverage or not. And the lesson the cop was 'teaching' was driven home:: "In the South, poor blacks have no right to 'talk back' to white cops, ever." John sees this case as some sort of 'victory for justice'. Hardly. The cop underscored the power of the white-dominated status quo.

  3. Obviously bigotry, and racism. Government so critical of people being antisemitism or anti any race besides African American. No laws r ethics apply to Blacks, the hate is obvious and obviously overlooked. Hereโ€™s the reason Blacks get no POLICY PASSED or REPARATIONS OWED, PAYED!
