In June of 2016 in Henry County, Georgia. Police sergeant Patrick Snook arrived at the wrong house and shot and killed the innocent homeowner, William David Powell, standing in his driveway. Sharon Powell, his wife, fled a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force against the officer. The Northern District of GA ultimately granted Summary Judgment in favor of the officer, granting him qualified immunity from standing trial in the civil case. She appealed to the 11th Circuit, which issued a published opinion on February 8. Here’s the full opinion, which you should read. Below I will post my takeaways and the basic law on police shootings. #lawenforcement #excessiveforce #lawyer

How in the world can a police officer who killed a man in his driveway and then receive his innocence along with Qualified Immunity?
Cops should not have AR's.
The cops suck and the courts suck. Form a community of like-minded people and don't have government and cops. You only need EMS and a fire department.
Not too long after Officer Snook was takin by the grim reaper of COVID 19 — I rest my case.
Really hate to hear stories like this, although I am a realist and know it happens. It is a real pity and an inducement to the whole "Contempt of Cop" issue. Happened so quickly… no lights, approach by officer, crouched down in hiding – time to do all that – weird.
Can you imagine, hearing someone outside your house prowling around, you go to see what's going on, and you get shot and killed by the police. Ridiculous
This is a great example of top down corruption,I have noticed their is a lot of cya to protect the corrupt system. This is a case of outright murder, he was just protecting his home. Keep in mind according to the courts the police can lie to you, the police has no obligation to protect you. I was once jumped by undercover police thinking I was a meth dealer outside 7 11. I badly injured both of them before state police tased me. Was let of jail the next morning with no charges .
As a quick update:
Sargent Patrick Snook died during the pandemic of Covid-19 due to complications, so in a sense, justice was served because he paid with his life for taking the life of an innocent homeowner. Because the court deemed Sgt Snook's life more important than the one from the homeowner to grant him total qualified immunity for killing him, we can conclude that he paid his crime with his life. It is truly an astonishing exchange. Rest in peace, homeowner, your murdered paid the price for his crime.
I don't see how any officer could get qualified immunity for going to the wrong address it doesn't take that much to read to investigate that's part of their job so whoever gave them qualified immunity should lose their job which would be the judge in this case
End qualified immunity. End civil asset forfeiture. End bad police.
They can get away with it…. but there is a higher judge
The question for me is the police being at the wrong address.
I feel that there needs to high degree of certainty when using deadly force that the person you are killing is the person you are looking for.
In the dark and from a distance that in nearly impossible.
Was this officer wearing body armor? Could he have taken cover?
His victims were in plain sight and well lit while he was crouched and in the dark.
That cop was just too horny to kill someone. Abolish Qualified Immunity.
Flood lights, sprinklers and two dogs would have been released to take care of the intruders.
Hmmm, wonder why?
Take away is to install motion activated lights and cameras that send images to your smart phone, especially if you are a gun owner.
being at the wrong address should nullify any Garner excuse
Can u answer something for me please? If the cops hurt you, and falsely arrest you, can u sue there traing facilities?
Because there not teaching the laws.
There causing tax payers alot of money because they don't know the law.
Im so shocked they don't even know the 1st amendment. Thank u. And thanks for the teachings.
Isn't that all irrelevant considering they had the wrong house?
Police can hide in darkness, take aim at me, shoot me,….and that's ok by law? Seems like defending my own life is out of the question when it comes to cops. The America I grew up in is gone, my school bus driver was a cop also, he was the type of people that you expected cops to be. This qualified immunity has to go, stop shooting people before the people start shooting back, before anymore innocent people die. If this cop didn't quit then he wants to shoot people, guilt should've dictated some restraint, it hasn't and I bet he's waiting to kill someone else.
Well Qualified Immunity doesn't protect him from Street Justice which I feel needs to be delivered! Just saying! 👍👍👍👍
Get rid of qualified immunity
It's the same as most of the other police shootings, the cop just wanted to kill a human, they are sick twisted sycophants, they become cops so they can kill people and get away with it. I think the evidence is plainly obvious, if a cop feels threatened to the point they need to stop someone in there tracks they could shoot them in the leg or arm, but NO, they just want to kill a human, we have got to stop these criminals!
Which of these is the most serious? A hairdresser cutting someone's hair too short OR a police officer cutting an innocent citizen's life too short? Doesn't it seem a little odd that the hairdresser is more likely to face consequences?
Since when can judges make the law. Judges came up with qualified immunity. Judges are protecting the police for what purpose? Who has what on who? This cop murdered this man! The cop was trespassing! Is there a video or is it just the cop’s word? We all know cops are liars.
