UPDATE (the off duty cop responds!) This police officer with the Leon County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office is so paranoid, that he sees a guy (Robert) parked at a gas pump, with a gas pump in his hand, trying to pump some gas, and he immediately thinks it’s something else in his hand. He gets scared. He pulls into the gas station, gets out of his police cruiser and draws down on the guy, shouting at him.

I saw the video when it first came out, I thought poorly too, but there are always different sides and if you are only willing to see one, then you are just as bad as them.
Believe me, I can't stand most cops. I've been personally mistreated by multiple, even roughed up by some that were totally in the wrong one time. So I am not a fan. But I do know there are a small group, definitely small these days, of decent cops.
All these people in here condemning him because he fist bumped the dude. That cop was unhinged. Did you all want him to come in there hot?!? That would have caused more problems. He was trying to get on the same level with him, trying to see what he was missing, and he even straight up told the cop he saw him holding the gas pump.

Most of these cops either don't say anything or put out statements saying the cops did nothing wrong. He's flat out saying the cops did something wrong and violated this dudes rights.

A cop mistakes a gas pump nozzle for a gun. A cop mistakes an acorn falling on a car for a gunshot. No cop has ever heard a gunshot and thought it was a acorn and no cop has ever seen a gun and thought it was just a gas pump nozzle.

Strive for accuracy please. The guy did not have a "gas pump" in his hand. He had a filler nozzle.
He got called out and that's why he's suddenly changing his tune. He clearly inserted himself into the situation and went up to the cop to offer his assistance. It was clear.
Nice try but clearly a revisionist's account from someone whose intent was to involve himself and play hero in a situation he could not have understood at all. He can't have known why Officer Magoo was pointing his weapon. He was ready to help bodyslam the victim simply for his wife and kids' delectation. Why fist-bump or even reveal yourself to an officer you're about to report?
This cop got caught budding up with him and got all the negative responses that's why he is talking like he is.
You people are all reading WAY too much into that fist bump. Put yourself in his shoes. You're a cop, wearing street clothes, on vacation, and you want to straighten him out while knowing he could be out of control with anyone. So, he approaches with the fist bump to say, "Hey, I'm a good guy and a fellow officer, let me help you understand what really happened here". It helped to gain the cop's trust and to get him to listen.
The fist bumping cop has all the class, integrity and intelligence of a used 3 week old ham sandwich. He is absolutely lying and covering up for his own actions. He canāt string a complete sentence together but yet he came up with in seconds a strategic undercover plan in a chaotic situation. He needs to be looked into also. On a side note. Sadly, I feel like the Pritchard, AL officer will start to be bullied out of his job. There are a few videos on YouTube that are specifically about his department and I can guarantee you not many officers within his department share the same feelings.
