Pastor Arrested for Watering Neighbor’s Flowers

An Alabama pastor who was helping a neighbor by watering her roses was confronted by police after another Karen neighbor reported a suspicious person. They demanded ID and that he respect their authority. He stood up for his rights and refused to be harassed. They arrested him for obstruction. Was he required to provide ID? What is reasonable suspicion? What to know….

  1. I'm periodically trying to catch up on your videos, and taking in as much information as I can for general learning purposes. I'd be remiss, though, if I didn't mention that I really like your outro. Great scenery, terrific banjo music.

  2. My question as a white guy is why they haven't fired every one of these crooked cops that are bald face Liars that Pastor Jennings did not identify himself not only did he not only identify himself even told them where he lived Shame Shame Shame on crooked cops

  3. Cops are the guys that got C & D grades and were actually trying 😅. Think about that next time that cop has a comprehension problem. He is trying his best and just can't understand because he is redlinin.

  4. Normally, I absolutely agree with you, BUT jumping to the conclusion that the neighbor was "apparently a Karen" is just plain wrong on your part. This time you did as many of the misinformed cops do on your channel and jump to a false conclusion despite the facts! The neighbor was looking out for her neighbor just as the pastor was and even admitted that it was her fault (unlike most Karens)! The pastor said the same thing himself and commended her for doing so, citing that she did nothing wrong. He wasn't even mad about the police coming out, as this was their duty to do so. What he was mad about, as we all are, is how the police conducted themselves after they arrived! You owe this "Karen" an apology!

  5. I've seen the body cam video from this incident before. The cops were acting like complete morons, he gave them his name, pointed at his home across the street, was doing nothing but watering the flowers, hell… one of the cops even told him he could keep watering the flowers as they talked! Like often happens, even after identifying himself, the cop started in on that "I need to see your I.D.!" BS and that is what lead to the arrest. Total violation of that man's rights. Even the lady that called tried to get them to leave him alone, and they ignored her.

  6. Childersburg and Harpersville used to run a debtors prison until they got smacked down by the Circuit Court and district court. Look it up. It’ll make you sick.

  7. Sill – uh – cogga. It's a southern thing, normal pronunciations don't apply down here. We have a town named "Arab", which any casually literate person would pronounce, well, as in like referring to a denizen of the Middle East. But no, it's pronounced with a long "a", then like the "rabb" in rabbit. We here southern folk got our own dang language rules, y'all. Ifn y'all don't cotton to it, jez stay over yonder.

  8. Yes it means everything as to what was called in. I don't think it was attitude that inspired the cops to arrest this man. A complaint was called in, and the police respond and explained the nature of the concern. The police have to investigate the scenario and based on their findings they will act accordingly. With any investigation the police need to verify the identity of the individual. This is not unique, it's done with every case. It is moot as to what he is wearing, or if he looks like a criminal. An I.D. must be established to continue. Lets say after he refused to show I.D> and walked away from the investigation the police say well we tried but I couldn't determine who he was. and he looked ok so the hell with it. 20/20 vision is easy at the time the police knew nothing about this man, who fled the investigation. Their hand was forced. Does anyone really think it's ok to just walk away? Was there a crime? impossible to determine without the investigation evolving to the point a determination can be made. It doesn't matter if he was watering flowers, cooking on the grill, washing windows ETC These activities are considered, along with the interview and name, and background check. If he cooperated its all easy. It's one thing if he was at his own house, but he was at another's, this is what prompted the call, the neighbor doesn't know who he is and to her appeared as suspicious. I think she is liable here not the police. . What really tipped the scale for me. He is EX law enforcement. So he knows what happens when a call like this is received. He knows during the investigation it's reasonable to identify who is in volved. He knows failure to produce an I.D. then walking away is not lawful. Thats passive aggressive. I can't understand why the police are scrutinized for following common practices during a investigating. Does everyone know it's not lawful to choose what police interviews you stay for and what ones you don't. Believe it or not there are people who get charged for a crime and they disagree, or had their rights compromised, or just mishandled. You don't break the law because you disagree, you go to court or lodge a complaint, it's that easy.

  9. Law Enforcement Personnel should be required to have malpractice insurance like medical staff, paid out of their own pocket. When they screw up they
and their insurance are on the hook. Do away with any version of qualified immunity.

  10. I watched that video yesterday. All would have been avoided IF he would’ve shown his ID. Why do people think they can disrespect our police officers. We need them. If he produced an ID it would’ve shown that he lived across the street and that would have been the end of it. But he had to be Combative, he had to fight with the cops. I don’t understand this then it blows into additional videos and investigations and so on and so forth. If he would have just simply done what he was asked. No because he wanted to start crap, he wanted to start something and he wanted it to go viral and he was in the wrong!! And I’ll tell you if someone would’ve been burglarizing that house how easy to pick up the hose and pretend water plants and you could’ve walked away free and clear. The cops don’t know this when they come upon a scene. We lose our cops we lose everything. And how dare you call that woman who is looking out for her neighbors a Karen. If it would’ve been someone that was not supposed to be on that property she would’ve been a hero. You want neighbors to watch out for neighbors. I have no respect for this preacher whatsoever for the way he behaved it wasn’t a good role model to his congregation. I made my comments on that video and someone wrote back and said “some last name you’ve got there.” I don’t know what my last name White had to do with anything and I don’t like the racial innuendos about my last name. That is my last name and has nothing to do with race whatsoever but this person was trying to make it out to be Shame on them that’s just digging for something. I did not react to it I did not stirred the pot to start up anything. All these people are going to need a police officer one day and they’re not gonna be there for you. You need to apologize to that neighbor for calling her a Karen either in your comments or on your video I wish I had a neighbor like her that could look out for my best interest.

  11. I was expecting you as a lawyer to really bring this home. The cops were wrong PERIOD! The Precinct will pay. You should have stated how much they will have to pay. What would you ask for if you were the lawyer trying the case?

You didn't state how he identified himself three times and how ignoring what the Pastor said became harassment on the part of the cops. They illegally detained him, stole his phone, then kidnapped him because they were angry with him not complying. C'mon Mr Layer. Watch the video and be more thorough!
