    I know I’m playing semantics here, but it’s the power of the camera combined with the tech of live streaming.

    In the early 2000’s, when YouTube started to gain massive traffic, primarily because of cop violence videos, the cops started destroying phones and cameras “on accident” during the process of arrest.

    Find the right time frame and one can probably find hundreds of videos where the cops though they destroyed a phone or camera but the data was recoverable.

    Then live streaming became a thing.

    I have no hard data to prove it, but from living through that time, I will state that live streaming began, and became a staple on YouTube and other video hosting platform, solely because of its importance in filming cops.

    Amazing how after live streaming became as ubiquitous as cellphone cameras themselves, we never saw cops “accidentally” stepping on on phones or video equipment during arrests.

    Also, in my experience (City of Miami and Miami Beach police 1980-2005) your candy analogy is more like a bag full of candy and 89% is poisoned.
    How many would you eat then?

    Never trust a cop.
    Never engage with a cop without filming.

    If for no other reason than, when in court, without hard evidence, a cops word holds weight over a citizen.
