As an RN (registered nurse) I am beyond consoling here. I CANNOT wrap ANY part of my head around this. I have been bitten, kicked, molested, slapped and cussed by people wearing a gown just like the one this poor guy is wearing. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER once have I returned the serve. The professions of medicine and law carry more authority than any other and THIS COP IS A PSYCHOPATH of the WORST kind…he's got a badge which gives him authority for which he is NOT equipped to have. This guy is a human being BEFORE he is a prisoner, criminal, patient or any other thing. I'd LOVE nothing better than getting ahold of that cop. Why on God's green earth did this cop take this guy to the jail instead of the hospital??? He didn't escape from the jail. He BLATANTLY screwed up the chain of custody. This man should have been taken right back to the hospital, ESPECIALLY when the guy said he swallowed a bolus of drugs. I'm guessing this guy left AMA (against medical advice). It happens all the time. Patients decide they don't want treatment and they leave whether it's good for them or not. I'm LIVID.
This is WHY I'm fighting tooth, nail and everything in between to put a stop to police officer's drawing their own blood for DUI/DWI cases. THEY ARE ANIMALS and acting outside their scope and practice. They killed a man drawing his blood and I have been on a mission ever since because officers know that we know what they are doing and so they try to avoid us and draw blood for themselves out of view of medical people.
