Someone asked me what I would have said yesterday at closing arguments in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Obviously I would have a lot more time to spend polishing it and expanding it, but this would be the basic theme and structure I would use. Over the years I have found a basic formula that I think works well and can be adapted to the particular facts of the case. In real life, you need to spend somewhere approaching 100 hours or so for every 1 hour of actual time in a jury trial, in order to be as prepared as possible. This is part of the problem with our imperfect system. You are at a huge disadvantage without the requisite money to fund this sort of preparation. As for this though, remember you are getting what you paid for….. But you get the idea.

I'm thankful and grateful for the defense attorneys that defend people against obscene charges by the prosecutors. I encourage everyone to go and watch a real trial at your local city/county/state or federal courthouse. It's amazing to watch a good defense attorney save innocent people. They are heroes.
Rittenhouse had no fucking business playing soldier in the first place. And if he was playing soldier, why the hell was he alone behind enemy lines? Rittenhouse deserved to go to jail. Instead right wing lunatics are patting his fat head and telling him what a good boy he is. They are normalizing political violence and very probably going to get rittenhouse killed before he turns 25.
Gotta say John, I was really hoping for "everything that guy just said is bullshit… thank you"
My only question is would you have had the same argument for the last guy who was shot who had the pistol had shot and killed Kyle. It was unreasonable for him to be armed taking on a law enforcement function at his age. If that's a defense then were in for wild wild west in the streets. This was a huge failure by law enforcement to prevent all this from happening allowing vigilantes to take the streets.
Sir the only issue I would have if I was on that jury. Is why was a 17 year old out, walking down the street with an assault rifle?. If he had not put his self in that situation to begin with there would not be 2 people dead and this young man would not be known as A KILLER.
Truthfully if I was an employer I could not put him to work, if I was a mother of a daughter I would never let her within 10 feet of him and if I was walking down the street now and seen him with a gun I wouldn't think twice knowing he has already killed 2 people.
Your Closing was Great… much better than Kyle's Defense team!
I did not like that the Prosecution got to Address the Jury twice at closing… that did not seem to be Fair! Lady Justice is Blindfolded and ready to use the sword to destroy you!
PERFECTION!
If he hadn't gone there, if he didn't have an AR15, there wouldn't be two dead and one injured.
So, the Rittenhouse trial was not correct as far as you are concerned? Obviously you have a problem for not being consulted and making your fee for your time spent agonizing.
If carrying an AR-15 is provocation enough to justify being chased, why weren't any of the other individuals, similarly kitted up, chased?
I'd say Rittenhouse 's attorney did just fine!
OK fine.. but "He crossed state lines!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY1eoY_MMco
You’re an idiot. There’s nothing defensible about what that little fascist did.
Rottenhouse went looking for a fight because his AR-15 is simply "cool".
@The Civil Rights Lawyer – I think the money spent on defense lawyers for Kyle would have been much better allocated to your expertise!!!
Well said bro
100% of people that didn't attack him were not shot.
I was hoping we'd see you tonight to discuss the verdict!
Can’t they charge him for beating that woman in the back of her head with his fists while his friend held her?
Found Not Guilty on all counts, however,
Kyle Rittenhouse Crossed State Lines Which Means That He Can Be Federally Charged
There are a wide variety of federal charges that Kyle Rittenhouse could potentially face that include civil rights violations and potential hate crimes. The Rittenhouse trial was so tainted by the judge’s behavior that the case deserves a federal review.
The idea that a person can show up at a protest with a loaded assault weapon, killing two people, and then claim self-defense flies in the face of logic and common sense.
I would like to see the defensive use of Kyle’s age, stopped. One, Kyle is more mature, able, and responsible than most adults. Two, his age has nothing to do with upholding our rights to self defense.
Just to point out how insane this world is becoming.
The jury found Casey Anthony not guilty, and didn’t deliberate as much.
Kyle's actions are as reasonable as a cop stepping in front of a moving car and then shooting the driver since he was in fear for his life. No sympathy, he went out of his way to put himself in a dangerous situation. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
If I hit the lottery and in need of legal counsel I would definitely be calling sir. Thumbs up brother
Sorry he should go to jail period!!!!!!
I can't take you seriously after you exposed yourself as a Trump supporter who won't accept that he lost without caveats. You're a coward.
I appreciate your perspective, thanks for sharing 👍
I'd wear a photo t shirt showing the victim hands up !!
Reading the comments below I had a thought on points gun at jury, was that the last attempt at a mistrial? Sitting on the jury I would have been screaming at him and demand his arrest. More than likely would have come over the rail, grabbed the gun and smacked him. No flippin way someone is going to pull a Baldwin on me and walkaway unscathed.
"What would I say? Something WonDerful" – TCRL
The closer for the defense should have kept it just that short, showing such confidence in Kyle's innocence that a two-and-a-half hour closing would be absurd.
The defense may have been learned, but they had no art or instinct.
I wish you gave the closing argument as well for Kyle. I think his defense team fell short on a lot of the points that you made.
Idk why they turned down the dream team. The defense missed allot of solid hits in the courtroom and the kids life is on the line.
Thanks
That sir, would have been an excellent close!
I would have asked the jury. Imagine if it were your daughter here today. Imagine she shot a man who was trying to r@]e her. Now Imagine the Prosecution, a representative of the State is claiming your daughter shouldn't have worn that short skirt. She knew their would be men there. She should have taken a beating aka assault. Imagine that.
I have a problem with the testimony that rioters attacked a armed person with a AR 15 and why such a innocent nurse was armed with body armor he given to his friend who was also armed did something to either provoked random people to attack armed men, or the story is BS…
Name a 17 year old black or hispanic armed with AR and body armor running around town not murdered by the police? It doesn't happen, matter of fact the protest was about a unarmed handcuffed high black man was murdered…
I don't buy it, because his own words started painting a picture of someone cleaning tagging, a cub scout, police cadet, but at night during unrest he gets a gun and body armor 🤷 nah, innocent people stay home and watch it on the news, but instead he went to be part of something he's now not wanting any of it…
Yes you can own a gun, but not going into a situation where you have to defend yourself… Self defense applied to your home and property is one thing, running around town like Rambo is poor reasoning as only white people can do this, not people of color…
So I think he goes to prison, because he put himself into a situation he murdered people… Those who died would of never been a situation… Period…
7:55 and 8:12 Self defense situation summary – and self defense is sacred, it must be protected
Direct, short, and to the point! Exactly the defense Kyle needed, rather than disorienting circumlocution summary of every non-pertinent point made by witnesses. Emphasize self defense DGU factors against each aggressor in each instance.
I agree with your summary. Everything I have seen and heard proved to me that this young man is guilty of nothing more than being in the wrong place at a bad time. A place he had every right to be. A place being damaged by rioters, and a place under siege. He reacted reasonably and defended himself reasonably and effectively. All those men had to do was cease their attack and none of them would have been shot. Had THEY acted reasonably they would not have been shot.
