THE MAN ARRESTED WAS DOING A GOOD DEED. IT SHOULD NOT BE THE COPS JOBS TO GIVE OUT AS MANY TICKETS AS THEY POSSIBLY CAN! THE IDEA IS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC. NOW THEY HIDE AND HOPE FOR IT TO HAPPEN, FOR A QUICK QUOTA OR A QUICK EGO BOOST! IT SEEMS THAT WAY SOMETIMES. I KNOW THERE ARE GOOD ONES TOO. BUT THINK POLICE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANY FINES OR TICKETS THEY CANNOT PROVE IN COURT. DEDUCT IT FROM THEIR PAY! AND MAKE THEM PAY WHEN THEY ROUGH SOMEONE UP. MAKE THEM PAY THE HOSPITAL BILLS, NOT THE STATE WHICH JUST MEANS THE REST OF US. MAKE THEM GO TO WORK AND PAY FOR THE FUNERALS THEY CAUSE UNNECCESSARILY , ETC. ETC. . I had 2 motorcycle cops that would sit in my private drive and few feet from school zone sign and ticket people all day long. I ask them several times not to use my property. I finally put a sign warning of said speed trap. Sign was torn down and I was threatened with arrest. I just park an old beat up registered car there. I know I pissed the local cops off
Flashing lights to oncoming traffic assists the officers in their duty of making the roads safe. Oh, I forgot, that's not why the cops were there, they only want to prey on citizens to rob them of time and money while tripping on their power. shameful conduct for LEO.

While speed traps are illegal in many states… they are still legal in a few… but, in 1978 SCOTUS ruled that a motorist flashing their headlights, for any reason including to warn of cops up ahead… falls under the First Amendment and is perfectly legal. So bc the flashing of headlights is completely legal in all 50 states… that fact makes this an illegal traffic stop, illegal ticketing of a citizen and an illegal arrest for smirking…
This cops should lose his job and qualified Immunity as the arrest was done out of retaliation for the guy smirking.

So these cops have a speed trap set up which can be looked at two ways
1. The cops are trying to keep the flow of traffic at the speed limit to keep everyone safe
2. The cops are trying to write as many citations as possible
I am inclined to believe the officers are looking to write a ton of citations with zero regard for maintaining safety when they tell the driver it was pretty stupid for him to flash his headlights at oncoming vehicles to let them know about the speed trap up ahead. The driver could have been notifying his fellow drivers about the speed trap to notify them so they can adjust their speeds if need be. All drivers should be treated as adults and be allowed to make decisions without having to be pulled over and given a citation. So the driver was playing a small self governing role to ensure his and his fellow drivers safety. But here is super trooper coming up with his smirky face and salty attitude, accusing the driver of making a stupid decision after the cop used his car as a weapon to speed through traffic while on his phone and using the government provided computer in his car to chase down someone who wasn’t speeding but possibly caused many who were speeding to slow down thereby bringing safety to the roadway. Why are speed traps necessary?

The problem I have with "speed traps" is they have almost nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with making money for the county.
