Shane was recording the arrest of two alleged suspects of a robbery from a public sidewalk on the Las Vegas Strip. Many others were filming the incident, but for some reason, Officer ___ of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department seemed to have an issue with Shane’s camera.
Apparently, this officer thought that recording minors is illegal. It absolutely is not. Especially when in public, and of interest to the public. There is absolutely nothing weird or creepy about recording alleged minors being arrested.
In fact, if they were my children, I would hope a citizen would record to protect them.
Shane was taken into custody.
When they attempted to sit him into their cruiser, he wouldn’t fit. As you can see, Shane is a big man. The officers tried to pull him in from the other side of the car but were unable to get him inside.
Eventually, a supervisor arrived on scene and was knowledgeable enough to know that his dogs had made a grave mistake. Shane was released from custody, and the sergeant began a dismal attempt at covering their rear ends.
Up to this point, It appears as though the Sergeant is interested in resolving the issue.
Shane is partially deaf and needs to read lips to communicate effectively. Especially with all the background noise of the Las Vegas Strip.
For some reason, the sergeant seems not to care, and the lack of respect Shane is given from this point on is almost as atrocious as his unlawful arrest.
Is there a policy that we don’t know about? Can an officer only tell a citizen his identifying information once per incident?
The video continues to film the scene for quite some time, but the sergeant never returns. I have asked shane to identify the officers for me, and I i get their names, they will be added to this report.
Shane is currently working with a lawyer to resolve this issue.

What a bunch of idiots. You could tell from the beginning of his interaction with him that the sergeant wasn't gonna do anything about it.
How disgraceful of that Sargeant. Being in charge holds a person to a higher standard, and at least the first cop wasn't aware that this guy was hearing impaired. I mean I thought cops were supposed to have an honor code like they do, or at least did, in the military, and among old-school criminals. If they ever dig it's long past. But seriously hopefully this is one of those incidents where the Sargeant burns with embarrassment and shame when he looks back on it, because this was NOT a shining moment.

If recording minors in public was illegal every camera on a building or business would have to have somebody there at all times to shut it off every time a minor walked by. You'd also have to ID everybody that looks under a certain age, before they walked into the camera's angle, to see whether they were legally adults or minors. Finally, cops wouldn't be able to use their body cams around minors, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of them.
Framing someone as a predator for recording the government arresting children is not only evil but the purest form of tyranny.

I don't think it's a good idea to have another person or officer filed a police report on one's behalf.

They are recorded in stores, public transportation, banks, parades, celebrations, etc.
The supervisor already heard the detailed facts, and then asks again for them while acting that everything said before doesn't matter? Such professionalism, it's flabbergasting.
