You've probably seen the "arrest for laughing" case that has gone repeatedly viral over the past few years. I'm actually the attorney on that case. Just yesterday the Court ruled on the officer's motion to dismiss and request for qualified immunity. The officer claimed that flashing headlights to warn oncoming motorists was not protected free speech, and that he was justified in handcuffing, frisking and detaining the driver after he laughed at him. What did the Court rule?

Mr. Bryan, in your deposition, you need to ask if this officer believes that all flashing lights (bulbs) are illegal. If that is the case, then turn signal indicator lights (bulbs) are illegal as well.
If you have an iPhone all you have to do is say “Hey Siri, report a speed check.” and every driver in the area will be notified if they have an iPhone. ☺☺☺ Everyone needs to know about this feature. I think Galaxy has a similar feature.

As for the Sherifs opinion….what proof does he have that America has the best law enforcement. I have never heard of a cop pulling someone out of a car for an infraction (supposedly) in Australia. Doubt he even knows any of your amendments.
The sheriff talks about our country having the best justice system and freedoms yet he has no clue about both topics! On one hand his deputies take away your freedom and violated your first amendment rights for laughing, then he forces you to enter the justice system based on nothing of value. This is why people hate the police and hate government too! Useless idiots with nothing else better to do but bother the citizens that pay their salaries!
It speaks to the receruiting protocols of that Sheriff's Department that the best that the High Sheriff can do is hire the best morons of the County. What did Corporal Ellison do in high school? Oh, we know: he beat up the little kids on the school bus and stole their lunch money. Perfect resume for a policeman job in that County. What's for an encore? Get your sister pregnant?

I think it's a 1st Amendment issue. A basic form of communication between one driver and other drivers on the road. It's essentially the same thing as flipping the road pirates the bird. 1st Amendment protected speech.
