81 year-old Olen Lane had a stroke 5 years ago and suffers from memory issues. Last month he got pulled over by Deputy Jason Johnson with the Hempstead (Arkansas) Sheriff’s Office for speeding. He either missed, or ignored, all the obvious signs that this elderly man was suffering from dementia. Instead of doing what he should have done to protect the man, he did exactly the opposite. Deputy Johnson did get fired, but without your help, he’s likely about to pop up in your little town next. In this video, I list the obvious signs of dementia that police officers should always be looking for, as well as what they should do when they see them.

10 seconds into this video, it is exceedingly evident that this cop needs to be terminated and given a job as a stock clerk in a large warehouse where he has no contact with people and only sees inventory during his shift. Thinking of my father or, elderly family that I have. And to think that they could be treated like this when they were absolutely honest forthcoming and you can obviously tell that they don't understand what's going on. I don't think I would be able to control myself if I was in the passenger seat and an officer was going on to my father like that I would snap. Words cannot describe the anger this video boils up inside of me. Less than 0 tolerance for that type of behavior, especially towards an elderly person. I hope nothing but the worst for this ex POS and I hope that nice old man gets restitution for the way he was mistreated by his public servants.

Thankfully the department recognized how awful this was and fired the deputy before the video came out. And the other officers seemed much nicer!
