I honestly think a lot of cops believe they have supernatural powers of deduction and that their hunches are de facto evidence of wrongdoing.
The cop didn't have to beat Bob Ross here over the head like that, but also if he had just complied from the start and didn't have anything to hide, he could've gone home without further trouble. It seems like some people just don't understand this, but cops will randomly pull you over sometimes if they think you match any kind of description. I've been bothered by cops a couple of times in the past, either because my car looked like one they were looking for or I they thought I looked like someone they were looking for. As long as you're not the suspect they're looking for, be respectful and don't be an idiot like this guy and you don't make things harder for them, don't start no sht won't be no sht. When you act stupid, like this guy, that only gives them more reason to suspect you are the one they're looking for.
But also yeah, when asked why, the cop should've explained from the start why he was pulled over. Some cops are dicks, I'm not saying there aren't bad cops out there, but there's also a lot more very stupid people who think they know the law better than a cop than there are bad cops.
FYI, not complying, peacefully or not, is the same thing as resisting whether you did anything or not.

This person will have to hire/pay an attorney, pay for related costs (his car towed and impounded) , and through his tax dollars, pay for the attorney of the police officer, the judge, and court costs, and wait, possibly losing his job, for the legal system to get off it's rear end to render an opinion. Is there any balance in this equation? It seems to me that the current system is set up to keep the public in line (intimidation) instead of protecting citizen's rights. The problem with settling out of court, is that there is no precedence for future similar cases and again it costs money and time, prohibitive hurdles.
I really believe law enforcement should have to show a photo ID during a stop to prove who they are.
