In Bowling Green, Kentucky, a man and his girlfriend were trying to have a yard sale when police officers from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Bowling Green Police Department appeared and accused them of shoplifting, due to there being multiple duplicate items for sale on the tables in the front yard. 2. That officer is standing on the curtilage of the home without any warrants. This officer is also violating this man's right to conduct lawful business in the form of a yard sale. There is no proof that this man, or his girlfriend, has done anything illegal.

  3. Okay, I am totally in shock with the stupidity on display here. Investigation? First he says he's not accusing him of anything, yet there is an investigation. Even so, you can't detain someone for suspicion due to their yard. Much less enter the property to gather what they might even call evidence. Any case they might have had is blown from the moment they entered the property in search of evidence and being told to leave. Not a lawyer, but I think this is a no brainer.

  4. Its is not reasonable to see a yard sale and ask for receipts for everything!! Most times people are selling stuff they have had for years and they do NOT have receipts for items. Who in the hell shop lifts and then has a yard sale advertising to world their stolen goods( I know their are some dumb criminals). This bozo cop should be fired and the officers assisting him as well

  5. "I'm just here to help him out" is not a justification or legal defense for citizens when they help their buddies who are committing crimes, I see no reason the standard shouldn't apply to cops. If you show up to an illegal stop, arrest, raid, etc. you should be 100% criminally and civilly liable when you are helping a criminal.

  6. In order for there to be a suspicion of shoplifting there needs to be a complainant. Without that, any cop can approach, detain, and arrest any person for having any item on them anywhere at any time, even the clothes you are wearing. Who carries or even keeps receipts for everything they own and have them on their person at all the time!? And none of these other cops are stepping up to stop this.

  7. I had supported trump until he started ratcheting up the police/gulag state, he has emboldened the unamerican neo-redcoats with his unnecessary oppression of the people, there are more than enough laws to deal with any and every crime, as we know the cops are always going to chose the defenseless citizens to harrass, they're not going to stick their necks out any more than before, what with their feminine griping about officer safety, could you be any safer than parading around with high powered firearms, body armor, and tactical combat gear ? I would guess that cops sustain far less injuries than any profession that includes physical work of any sort, these knuckleheads are not supposed to be hassling people over hairbrained hunches and they certainly aren't supposed to retaliate over their tender egos, do these bums think anyone appreciates their inept amateur intrusions into their personal business, it is just childish beyond belief, where is the legislature when it comes to representing the people, is the united states the snowflake capital of the world ? Apparently it is if it allows this state overreach, there was a time when clowns like this would have been run out of the county with their tails tucked

  8. Any evidence the thug may be collecting would be tossed out of court due to the violations of 4th amendment rights. Next time consider calling 911 and reporting thugs dressed as cops trespassing on your property and won't leave.

  9. Amateur lawyering, but the cops are even dumber. This guy literally admitted to setting up an illegal store, not a garage sale. By his own admission, he does this on a bi-monthly basis. Most states have laws that state how often these sales can happen without some sort of commerce license. The cops should've photographed everything and dropped a line to the IRS. The cops are bad here, but the scum bag "resellers" are worse.
