Cop Squished Man’s Eyeball ‘Like a Grape’ | $4 Million Verdict

You may have seen in the news, a federal jury in Michigan just awarded 4 million dollars to a man who got his eyeball squished like a grape, after being sucker-punched by a police officer for no reason. Daniel Reiff was on his way to a roofing job. He and his coworker, Ryan, stopped at Ryan’s house to get some tools. As they walked through the neighborhood, a neighbor got suspicious and called the police on a non-emergency number, reporting that she didn’t recognize two “younger looking kids.” The Clinton Township police apparently didn’t have much going on that day, so they sent the cavalry – 8 police cruisers in total, who scrambled to the scene, even speeding and weaving through oncoming traffic, as if they were headed to a bank robbery. When Daniel saw this, having had prior bad experiences with the police, he left Ryan’s house and headed towards his bus stop. But Officer Broc Setty spotted him, got out of his car and chased him down, whooping a battle cry, as if he was a Viking about to murder some monks at a monastery. And actually Officer Setty wasn’t all that far off. When he caught up to Daniel, he sucker-punched him in the face, which ended up squishing Daniel’s eyeball like a grape, permanently blinding him.

  1. 4 million is not nearly enough and that cop should serve prison time and after he gets out of prison he should be on parole for the rest of his life. He's obviously a psychopath and needs constant monitoring team. And the lady that called the police should get in trouble as well because it's not against the law to walk down the street in any neighborhood unless it's a gated community and even then it's only a trespass. I kind of know what that means like because every time the cops have ever been called on me they show up 5 or 6 cars deep with two police officers in each car and I live in Michigan it's like it's their policy or something and I'm not even a big guy I'm like 5'6 and 135 lb and the cops say I'm a threat to them when they're all over 6 ft tall and way well over 200 lb they all know I don't carry guns I've had plenty of interactions with the police I try to stay to myself but in the town I live in people like to try to be bullies and I will defend myself no matter what it takes. I've had police officers body slam me almost broke my wrist arm and ribs right on my front porch then they charge charging me for resisting arrest kind of hard to resist a wrist when you're laying flat on the ground from being body slammed there needs to be a form of punishment for these type of police if it wasn't for the one cop that actually gave a crap they would have killed me in my own home

  2. Now does that 4 million come from Clinton tax payers or Michigan tax payers? This should be paid by the police pention. Until there is some form of accountability this will continue to happen. I grew up in Canton Mi and dealt with cops like this constantly… people are finally starting to see the truth.

  3. Why isnt he in jail???? Oh right, rules for me not for thee and a corrupt judicial system. Hes tht comfortable committing crime he learned it from someone Turds toll downhill. Investigate tht whole force

  4. The cops name should be on a non hire list and anyone who is married to him should as well. Make his life miserable by ostricizing him! Ban him from construction and road work.

  5. 4 million wouldn't compensate me adequately for the loss of an eye. Everything I love to do requires good eyesight. Now the next important bit of information, what charges did the oficer get hit with? Because he should have NEVER been an officer. He abused his position and authority. When someone has a bad experience with an individual, they want to leave. The man had every right to get away from what he saw as a threat and it turns out to very justifiable feeling. I like cops as a general rule. I just abhor the terrible ones.

  6. He's destroyed his ability to work in building trade before he got started even after a decade he could of built 4 million worth of housing or upgrades existing housing he should of stayed at the house
