The guy mildly says " I'm not being disorderly". And the cop snaps back "YES YOU ARE"! NO self awareness at all.
I was taught in the academy that you could arrest anyone who refused to ID after you requested it. Thank God I had seven years of constitutional law before attending the academy. My biggest issue once I became chief was to get my officers to get that out of their head. The other thing was to get my officers to leave their egos and pride at their home before coming to work. Officers need to be held accountable civilly and criminally for their actions. That's the only thing that is going to make change. The other thing to affect change is taking cases to jury where the departments can't put a gag order on settlements. Police should be made to carry their own malpractice insurance like doctors. If a few of these cases hit the officer in the wallet because of increasing premiums, you would see the number of false arrests on civil rights cases drop tremendously.

I am 46 years young yet I remember once apon a time law enforcement officer was a noble and honorable occupation. Today however the single requirement is must have been a walmart greeter for a period no less than 1 year .

The fact that these cases drag on for so long is just another way he victims suffer all over again.
At the Northeast Alabama Police Academy that's exactly the way it was taught at the time I was a recruit. People have to provide their ID on request. However, during my college career I received a degree in forensic anthropology, forensic investigation with a background in constitutional law and KNOW that's not the law in my state. However, corruption in municipal government is rampant and needs to be corrected from the top down.

Jail the officer.. any of us would be. Even if we were innocent. Say he resisted, he would’ve been charged and sitting in jail. Making it almost impossible to fight back. Only thing you could do is hope you have enough for a decent lawyer. Bc the public defender will play ball and tell you to take a deal.. even if he knows the whole thing was unlawful from the start.. he knows if he does this enough that one day he/she will be on the prosecuting team.
