  1. UPDATE: Two years ago I posted body cam footage submitted by Janet, of Union County, Illinois, showing her son, who suffered from meth-induced mental illness, being tased by police officers. Imagine parents calling 911 for an ambulance, and instead, police officers, aware that they have a warrant for the son, show up instead, and without an ambulance. Instead of medical treatment, they use force. I just found out that the officer resigned and the civil lawsuit settled.

  2. Where i live, police ALWAYS respond to ambulance and fire calls. Police enter ambulance calls with or before EMT's for safety of ambulance personnel.

  3. I hope these jackboots have to pay the family a million dollars every year for the rest of their lives. They could have easily arrested the kid AFTER he was treated with no problem.
If you can’t even call for an ambulance without being subjected to the thugs in costumes then what is anyone to do? Can you imagine if the identification was a mistake?

  4. Since f'n WHEN are cops allowed to make medical or psychological decisions??? They have not the CERTIFICATION, TRAINING, Or LICENSE to do so!!!!!!!! They are making medical decisions(diagnosis), WAY outside their scope. They should ALL be in jail! They have less formal training than a hair stylist. Fuck off!

  5. Attempted murder by the tasing cop but it's intentional murder by the chief and sheriff for going to arrest instead of sending ambulance if both the chief and sheriff aren't prosecuted the city and county councils need held accountable for aiding and abetting the inhumane treatment of people

  6. No way. Not enough compensation. The lawyer didn't want to take the chance at trial. It's understandable. Oversight agencies need to be established to quickly review these matters and provide immediate compensation to the victims of bad policing without going through lengthy and arduous court proceedings.

  7. $58,000 NOT ENOUGH!!! no justice to that cop/department. Awful police department, in general. He should have been charged with unlawful use of force, and punished. (Although that never really happens, does it!?)

  8. For future reference, if you need an ambulance for yourself or a family member. Don't use the word psychotic or the verbiage "going nuts." If you don't want EMS to have LEOs "secure" the scene 1st.
I'm not saying the sheriffs didn't completely mishandle the situation. I'm just saying dad gave them the rope they were looking for in the 911 call.
Many times less is more. Just say "I need an ambulance for medical assistance for my son at this address." Answer their questions with discretion knowing that the same dispatcher handles EMS and law enforcement. If there is no ongoing threat, don't dramatize anything, or you will have cops show up 1st every single time. If they hear frantic screaming in the background, yelling, or general mayhem, they will send the cops 1st. Stay calm, ask for only what you need, and don't make them think they are rolling up on a possible domestic dispute if that's not what's going on.
I'm an ER nurse, and we see similar situations frequently. Most of the time, it's just a hysterical family member who can't control their emotions in a crisis, and responders think they're running into a war zone when it's just auntie having the vapors.
Unfortunately, we live in a time when the general public has to be more rational, mature, and calmer than law enforcement. It's backward, but it is what it is. It's better to be aware than just assume the people you are calling are the adultier adults.
Most of the time, they are not and need some hand holding to do their job without injuring or killing you. Don't scare them or make them nervous. Your safest strategy is to assume you're calling toddlers with firearms and tasers. These toddlers are the city and the county's favorite children, and they can do no wrong.

  9. THIS ACTUALLY SAYS IT ALL ON WHAT POLICE HAVE BECOME… THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN HOW AMBULANCE WOULD ACT IF THEY GOT THERE AND A DIFFERENCE IN POLICE.. AND THE POLICE ARE HIRED BY THE PEOPLE / BY THE PARENTS TO KEEP THE PEACE… THEYVE LOOKED AT THIS GUY LIKE AN ENEMY AND A BAD MAD FROM THE GET GO..
    AND THATS NOT THEIR JOB.
ITS THE COURTS JOB TO DECIDE WHOSE BAD OR GOOD..
WTF IS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD
AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO IS AWAKE ON THIS PLANET??. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODYS MINDS

  10. The "federal courts' have failed us. Behing the scenes uhem he has "erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance." Probably all people of the world. You civil rights lawyer are part of the Offices any of you have some new ideas? Like maybe Courts of Chancery and the equity maxims? Or something else. I smart enough I can only lament for human suffering and causing suffering.

  11. U don't need medicat attention if ur mental. And I know this because I'm as mental as they come plus I studied to be a psychiatrist. Yeah it's something to handle but u can get tazed. Don't act crazy …..

  12. 58k not enough. A win is a win against cop overreach/overreaction, but it needs to hurt in a way that the taxpayer is not on the hook. Like taking from salaries or other discretionary spending pools.

  13. Our states should have something like DOGE, and the first thing it could look into law enforcement. "How much tax revenue is wasted in paying settlements because the cops are being morons." Then act accordingly. I don't believe in "defund the police", but I do believe that if you take an Oath to the Constitution, it should be legally binding, and there should be a real life penalty to violating it on purpose.
