Retired Pastor with Dementia Dies After 9 HOURS in Restraint Chair (with a hood over his head)

Officers were dispatched to a business to assist an elderly customer who appeared to be suffering from dementia. At the scene, officers found him extremely confused. He told them the year was 1948 and that the president was George Washington. So they call his daughter to come pick him up. So how did things go so terribly wrong that day, that this 74 year old man ended up dying alone in a jail cell 9 hours later, confined in a restraint chair with a hood over his head? The story of Lester Isbill is one that could happen to anyone. He wasn’t a criminal. He was a good man. He had committed no crime. Yet he would nevertheless fall victim to this terrible death at the hands of the very people who were supposed to protect and care for him.

  1. This is the worse kind of torture! I cannot imagine The feeling so helpless while dying slowly! Everyone involved needs prison time!! EVERYONE! The pain the family must feel watching the video of a loved one tortured to death must be enraging. Justice must be served! 🙏

  2. This one is going to be difficult to spin in order to get a good outcome, but there is a little hope, the police can say they lack the competence to make medical decisions and all responsibility rests with the two medical staff present. The medical staff could argue they were never given full information from the police and therefore they cannot be held responsible. It is a long shot but it's worth giving a try, a good lawyer might even find some other angles to put into the mix so all hope is no lost, it might still be possible to turn this around and everyone comes up smelling of roses!

  3. These jail employees murdered him. Every officer involved with bringing him there should be brought up on murder charges. Everyone in the jail that had anything to do with him should be charged with aiding and abetting the officers and brought up on the same charges as the officers. Qualified immunity does not apply to these officers anymore. They murdered him.

  4. Good samaritan calls police who coerce the mans daughter into signing his death warrant, drag the poor sick man to the jail where he falls and the answer to his facial injuries is to confine the injured and sick man for 9 hour with a spit hood and without water or any comfort while the medical staff watches and laughs. Then the sheriff condones the death at the hand of his employees and rubs salt in the wounds of the dead by implying the dead man was uncooperative.

So why would anyone want to contact 911 for help? Learn a lsson and do NOT call the government for help. Just let your tax dollars go without expecting any return, because they will kill you if they can and the sheriff will probably be elected again and again.
Just guess, but I would wager the man would give back the $millions just to have another day, just enough to say good bue.

  5. Like our Gov. and this Admin: blame others for their F^%$ ups geeze, they don;t even care someone died in their custody WTF . Shines a light on the Supreme court ruling ,police in the US are in no way to protect the citizens of the US ,or are they accountable for our safety hummm .

  6. There are normally strict policies when it comes to restraint chairs/beds you have to allow extremidity movement every hour for at least 5-10 minutes every hour where i use to work… an you could only keep them in a restraint chair like that for 6 hours max
