I'm all for getting drunks off the road as I have had 2 DUIs in my past. I could have killed someone or myself. On that note, police need to go back to doing their job. Their job is to respond to 911 calls, not hide and try to catch people doing something wrong. They're supposed to be doing reactive law enforcement not active law enforcement. We shouldn't be paying them to sit on the side of the road with their lights off burning 100's of dollars in fuel being sneaky trying to find a crime. This is as absurd as having the fire department driving around all day looking for a fire instead of sitting at the station waiting for an actual fire to respond to.
I was arrested for DUI with no alcohol or illegal drugs in my system. I insisted on the blood test because I knew what was in my system and what was not! In court the judge insisted that I take a town sponsored drug and alcohol course for 8 weeks with the high probability of continuing the course for another 4-6 weeks because they wanted $800 for the first course and another $500 for the second course. I know this because while I was in a cell another prisoner outlined the whole process to me. He unfortunately had significant experience with this small town judicial system on eastern Long Island.
When I argued my point with the judge that I moved to the right while driving to avoid some broken tree branches in my lane and that’s why I crossed the solid white line of the road for maybe 2 seconds and was stopped and ticketed then arrested for DUI. At that time I had been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and was taking drugs prescribed by my doctor which I assume were listed on the report of my blood test which the judge had. I refused to take and pay for the drug and alcohol courses and at that point the judge suspended my drivers license for 90 days and wanted to keep my impounded brand new Honda Accord. I ended up paying $900 to get my car back with paperwork that I forged. My driving record shows that I have a conviction for DUI and that has hurt me with a insurance and applying for jobs. When I tell my side of the story no one believes it and nobody cares.
I’m a 69yo disabled veteran and former Corporate Pilot and I moved recently to Greensboro, NC because the cost of living in NY is out of control and it’s impossible for me to get a decent job because of the DWI . When I filed a complaint with NY DMV and the NYS Attorney Generals office they decided that because 2 of the prescribed medications I was on stated that the medication could cause drowsiness that my conviction would not be changed, modified or otherwise be overturned. Should I go to the US DOJ and ultimately the Supreme Court of the United States because a little town on eastern Long Island are so greedy they have conscience or concerns about hurting a man’s ability to work and support himself! As I continue to struggle to survive I keep thinking that if I’m ever told by a doctor that I’ve only got 3 months to live I’m going back to that little town and I’m going to raise hell with the corrupted judicial system there starting with the criminal cops then the prosecutor and that judge and I are going to have another serious talk about his decisions. I can’t wait!
At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter, because you definitely know that someone’s shorts will have to be eaten despite what happens when pulling someone over, whether they go to the dungeon or not in torture cuffs. Let that fact sink in : someone’s shorts “will” be eaten
