I keep saying it, if the laws were changed for lawsuits to take the money directly away from the police pensions and their unions, they would course correct so fast on their legal-criminal behavior. If you would narrow down a single offending officer's offense, and take away equally a percentage from each cop's pensions at their assigned stations, you better believe their "fellow officers" are going to hold any offending cops accountable real fast, because it will affect their own personal money. This would weed out the bad cops to quit so fast, and the complacent cops to finally speak up without repercussion against them. And though the cost of covering lawsuit are so high, the money should also come out of the police union funds. See how fast they would be enforcing new updated rules to quailfied immunity they so proudly help create and enforce now. Stop taking the taxpayer's money to cover lawsuit cost. It does nothing but embolden bad cops to continue criminal behavior because it doesnt directly affect them.
