On August 13, 2024, Anchorage police responded to a 911 call involving Easter Leafa, who was reported to have threatened her sister with a knife. What followed was a series of events that ended with Officer Alexander Roman discharging his weapon, leading to Easter’s death. The State of Alaska’s Department of Law, after reviewing the case, concluded that the officer’s actions were legally justified. But does the newly released bodycam footage contradict the report?

  2. The officer who murdered her couldn’t have sounded any less sympathetic or more confrontational when talking to her before she turned around. His sickening monotone voice ordering her to turn around is so sociopathic it makes my blood boil. Not once did he care about her situation or her feelings. No attempt was made to have any actual human to human communication with her. He essentially talked her into “jumping off the deep end” or in this case talked her into allowing him to shoot her.

  3. Your analysis of this incident isn’t objective and seems to me that you assume the officers guilt first and then set unreasonable measures to prove innocence. I do notice in the freeze frames that she was not holding the knife in a manner that is immediately of threat to the officer, however I had to watch the video twice and freeze it to clearly ascertain that. Given the officers needed to assess this along with the person as a whole, I don’t think it’s reasonable to insist the officers would be able to fully assess how the knife was being held in the time allotted. Next, from what I saw in the videos, there was room to retreat further back, however it didn’t look to me like that space was in the direction the officer was trying to move and also the space that was available had other family members who were already showing themselves to be non compliant and combative. Next, even the call put my hackles up. Given the nature of the report, she was strangely calm and almost sounded high. If I were arriving on a scene like that, I would take that as adding further levels of unpredictability to the scene. Back to backing up to where the combative family members were: retreating back between them would be stupid and I would hope the reasons for that are self evident.
You make a few points as to how this should have been handled better, however given the difficultly on the scene and the unnerving manner in which the suspect moved while armed with a deadly weapon, I understand how the officers got spooked. It looked to me like they were generally not trying to start anything and weren’t all that concerned until the suspect turned and began moving with purpose toward the officers while armed with a deadly weapon.
I agree with the Anchorage police department’s findings in this case.

  4. In the picture before she got pew pewd you can see as she turned around that she was not holding The knife in a fashion that would be readily available to stab somebody with.
She's just holding a knife like literally holding it Not even by the handle.

This is murder or at least it's manslaughter due to negligent discharge of a firearm

  5. This apartment full of females call the police to handle their problem and then try to tell the police how to handle it. Smh. The TV at full volume adds to the chaotic atmosphere nicely.

  6. Call this what it is…..murder. The domestic terrorists in this country have been given free rein to escalate situations which kill citizens. They are not here to protect and serve. They are here to demand immediate compliance to their will and are not held accountable by any means. We have been passive for so long that we've allowed laws to be implemented which allows this behavior. Realize there are also many who are more than willing to cover up and excuse away these acts, trying to tell you that you did not see what you just seen. This entire situation by the terrorists had only 1 motive, comply or die. They started by trying to keep this entire family from seeing what they were about to do. They intentionally crowed the space by this girl to allow nothing other than those 2 options. The intent was never non lethal. A 40MM cannon at that close range isn't much different than a .40 cal pistol. This coward just killed a 16 year old girl for having an adolescent moment! How many more die before we refuse qualified immunity and self investigation?

  7. Rule 1 don't call these punks as they will escalate so that they can shoot.I am so grateful to the New Zealand Police who are not like this at all.To gun happy, she has a knife and they shoot her.Good policing my arse.

  8. Why didn’t they tease her this is a child. Why would you shoot a child? I don’t care what she had in her hand. That’s like a woman slapping a man and him punching her to death. Cowards!

  9. Situations like this is the reason I say everyone should watch cop watch and police audit videos so that they understand what happens way to often when the police are called.

  10. That's pretty odd. Did she have a choice?? Could she have asked to be tased instead?? She could've asked to be attacked by a K9 unit? I'm sure she would have asked for something else.

  11. I know for a fact that if it were a civilian that shot 4 four times into a person with a knife it would be a totally different outcome, and no criminal charges would be that outcome.

  12. She wasn't charging them; she was not even holding a Knife by its handle. She looked like she was getting ready to slowly walk to them and hand the knife to them. Four shots, what is she, a 300-lb linebacker? For a little 16-year-old girl, a Taser would have put her down in a heartbeat. Like they said, they had all kinds of ways to stop her. But they preferred to end her life. The cop who fired the shots should be in jail! How many times do I have to say? Stop calling the police!

  13. Bad training, bad. He knows how to read from the policy but didn’t use the procedure. Think about the “stop resisting” mantra, same thing. Now on the other side of this, IF you call the police, remember they are responding to people with deadly weapons who have had minimal training mandated by unions, not for real world events.
If you call the people with weapons to solve your problems, do not be surprised that they will use deadly weapons.

  14. You're now getting a little far left liberal. Cops have no duty to retreat. Everyone has different vantage points. 5 officers can see the situation in 5 different ways. I could have saved you time your life will never get back….. Title "Don't walk towards Police with a knife." The end. Y'all are dumb.
